:p

Finally got to try out the paper wheels I got last week.
My Machax is now much sharper than it needs to be.:D
There is not much reason for a knife like that to shave arm hair in a single pass, but it does.:D

So today my wife and I were ripping up carpet getting ready to lay tile in our dining room. My tool of choice for carpet cutting was my BK2 with a really sharp convex edge. It sliced through the carpet like water. My wife was watching me and asked "Are you going to take pictures of your BK...whatever ripping up that carpet and post them on the forum?" I replied "Honey a guy all ready posted pics of this knife cutting a lawn mower in half.....I dont think anyone will be impressed with a bit of carpet." we both got a nice laugh.

The other day my girlfriend got jealous that I was taking more pictures of my knives then her. Ha! I remember that thread (by BRL right?) it's what sold me on a BK2!!

haha I think you dropped the ball man. She was hinting you should take pictures. Never said what kind! :D

Just teasing haha........My girlfriend doesn't understand when I do it either.

Just make a compromise with her, take pictures of her with the knives. Just like Nsvens said, she never said what kind. :D

Also: Fixed that for you.

Brought my 9 with me on my little vacation (staying in a hotel and visiting a hot springs, but needed something to cut the salame and bread and such). I also brought several smaller knives, including my Gun Hammer folder and my wife's got her Tenacious. I know I've converted her to appropriate status, because she was having trouble opening a bag of potato chips, and went straight for the 9 to open them up. Yes, that's right, it takes a 9" long blade to open a bag of potato chips :D

Also, by the way, that 9 goes through toughish bread and salame like butter. Cuts just as well as the dedicated bread knife from back home.

Got myself a Condor Greenland Axe this week.

Like all of the Condor line, it needed a bit of work to be really great. That's not exactly a deterrent to guys like us, though, is it?

The handle was a bit rough on one thin section on the left side. Not bad at all, but not totally smooth. I hit it lightly with a sander and smoothed it right out. Took the logo out too, a little, but I don't really care about that. Then I went over the whole handle with some more sandpaper to even everything out. Now it's nice and smooth. After sanding, I gave the handle three coats of natural Danish Oil. It darkened the wood a bit, but mostly left the color unchanged.

The grind was pretty good and the edge geometry is well done. Some of the reviews I've read from a couple of years back said that the Greenland's cheeks were too thick and the head came loose easily, but it's obvious that Condor has been working on its quality control. I only needed to fix a little bit of a rough angle at the toe, and of course to sharpen it up. The edge wasn't horrible, but it needed to be honed some. There was some kind of lacquer coating the head, I assume to protect it from rust while it's on the boat, and I needed to take that off too.

I used my Work Sharp to hone the edge. I actually used the 80, 220, and 6000 grit belts to do the work. Didn't take very long. I finished it off with a worn 6000 grit belt with some Brasso on it, then stropped the edge. Now it will slice paper cleanly.

Shiny.

I took it out back and did some chopping on some hard, seasoned wood, cutting through a log about 7 inches in diameter. So far I can't tell the difference in performance over a higher-priced axe. It chops great, and the handle stayed rock solid. I even tried to do the preliminary steps towards carving a spoon with it, and it notches and carves just fine.

It also comes with a nice leather cover. Very thick and supple.

For fifty bucks or so, you get a lot of axe for the money.
