Beer talk

Had the Koningshoeven Triple yesterday afternoon, really didn't thrill me, tasted mostly like bread with some citrus in there too. Then I followed dinner up with Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, which is always a delicious brew.

I haven't had a drop since before New Years. After the 10th I should be able to drink again think I'll have to look for something special.

Haven't had a drop since 11-22-08. And I really love beer. One day at a time ;)

Solidsoldior good job. It was do to a car accident and then some meds that I haven't drank. Beleive it or not it hasn't been an issue for me even on New Years. I was a very heavy drinker for many years, but in the last 10 years I've almost been a non drinker.

I'm out of good stuff, so I'm finishing off the Red Stripe. This way I can buy more beer next time I go grocery shopping. I'm thinking it may be time for some Tillburg's.

For the Super Bowl I had Magic Hat 9 and some Duck-Rabbit. Good stuff.

Supposed to hit 70° here today; after work I'll try to find the "new" Boulevard "BBQ" (Bourbon Barrel Quad) and their "new" Saison-Brett. "New" in quotes since I just now heard about them  (mostly because I had dropped out of the beer circles over the winter, since I seldom drink beer when it's freezing out).

I'm off to get some Guiness. For some obscure reason my maid decided to pack all the loose strips of meds in the fridge into my box of daily dose long acting antihistamine. Being identical in looks I now have to try and relax on a Friday afternoon with a headache from sinus and Ritalin.

Good beer is a delight. Bad beer is unnecessary, with the availability of so many fine brews, offered these days.

I have been a home brewer for 25 years and prefer what we brew here at Bethel Ridge Brewers.
At present we are brewing:
Sparrow Hawk Porter
Oatmeal Stout
English Bitters
IPA

There are four of us that brew together on weekends.

Its a great way to get together with friends and the resulting product is a delight to the pallet.

Can we hear from some others who enjoy brewing their own beer?

Bottom up, Fred

I would love to brew up all these marula (wild) fruit. I can't bring in the kit to botswana without confusing customs. I will do it part by part during the year for the next season.

There's also a new Imperial Stout.

Ah, a virtual cornucopia awaited me at the beer store. Unfortunately, there are no more Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quads to be had.

On the plus side, I walked out with Boulevard Saison-Brett, Boulevard Imperial Stout, New Belgium La Folie wood-aged, and some seasonal New Belgium 1554 black ale.

Now, if I could only decide which to try first! :D

:D

riffraff,

I wish I could buy that here in Utah. Unfortuntely I have to trade for it, lol I do have a bottle of the Saison-Brett, Imperial Stout, and two bottles of the BBQ. Also, most likely another bottle of the Imperial Stout coming soon. The Sixth Glass is also a pretty tasty Quad.

This afternoon, a very tasty Brooklyn Black Ops, highly recommended.

Decided to go with the New Belgium La Folie Wood-aged Ale tonight. Wow. All I can say is wow. Never had a sour ale before. It's...different.

Tastes kind of like an odd cider, almost. Definitely some citrus there. The wife says it has "a sour-ball after-taste." Yep, pretty much. Strangely tasty, though. Definitely not a session brew (even though it's only 6.00% ABV). Switched to 1554 after that.

Recommended if you have an open mind (and palate). :D

riffraff,

Try some of the Russian River American Wild Ales, or Lost Abbey, or Jolly Pumpkin, you will be in for a treat, especially the Russian River.

Cheers!

Cool. I'll have to look for some of those. Thanks!
