Benchmade Discussion without Politics or Insults

I’m just not on the side that shoots themselves in the foot them blames the other side because they can’t walk straight.

So you are not on Benchmade side ?[/QUOTE]

Well seeing as they didn’t, yea I am on their side.

Most of the people in this thread don't care that the guns were destroyed. But who cares if this hurts Benchmade's business as long as you're amused and get to rib members of the opposite political spectrum?

This isn't about that, even though you are attempting to frame it that way in order to create an emotional argument.

I do not support gun grabbing, I do not support anti-2a, and I will not give my hard earned $ to companies that turn around and use that money to fund my political enemies. Especially when what they are doing is easily equatable to "virtue signaling."

BM could have told the Sheriff's office "no thanks, we don't want to get in the middle of that" and the SO could have used the scrapyard that they had used in the previous times they destroyed guns.

BM got in this by choice. Then when they got called on it, they doubled down and basically told me that they don't care if they lose my business and they are going to keep funding people who wish to trample on my rights.

Mind you, the left uses this tactic quite often. It wasn't the right that pioneered it. The left started it and the right just adopted the method, and there's not many issues that trigger the right to adopt a vehement response like trampling of 2a rights. A company like BM....I expected them to understand this. They didn't, and when called on it....they showed they understood it just fine, and told me to stick it up my keester.

BM told me they didn't want my money because their politics and virtue signaling of those politics was more important. Plain and simple.

Moreover Benchmade has been doing this for years, and it has come to light now (the donations). It is eyebrow raising that they were not upfront about it; it's almost like they knew it might alienate some of their customers. I always prefer transparency, there is no shortage of it in this thread. The silver lining about this whole debacle is at least know we know which side we all stand on now.

I think the key for me here is respect - I don't claim to always make the correct decision online but the idea that we have to resort to name calling or insulting someone because of a disagreeing opinion is what's wrong with us now. I read on instagram today someone insulting a user who sided with Benchmade because their coffee was drunk with milk in it. I may not agree with everyone on every political issue but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're a decent person and we probably agree on much more than we disagree on. Civil discourse is a dying thing and that's sad. For those of you that have had it, that's great.

As far as Benchmade goes - I like their product, they've taken care of me as a customer, and no one provides the warranty that they do. They operate in a state that is democrat and the owner has funded democrats and that makes sense to me considering the location. Others from that area have chimed in about that. Contrary to popular belief there are liberals that support gun ownership - the Liberal Gun Club is a thing. I don't believe Benchmade has handled this well. In the internet age you have to take a stand and stand by it. Otherwlse you're eaten alive and that's happening somewhat. With other knife companies chiming in to try and get some new customers it doesn't help things because it fuels the confirmation bias that others are seeking.

This is only my opinion - like most others here it doesn't really matter but the internet has given us a way to express that opinion publicly so take it for what you will. Also don't assume that i'm liberal or conservative because you ultimately don't know. I'm a fan of civility when it comes to politics and that's what this post was meant to express. Not my bias to either direction.

Have a good Saturday.

To anyone saying they won’t buy any BMs, when people got all pissy over Nike, Yeti, and Gillette saying they’d boycott them, all their sales went up. Don’t dismiss a quality product just because you don’t like their political view.

Dude keeps saying this like he is swaying anyones opinion here. Stop regurgitating the same thing already, we heard you, guess what? No one cares and you have not had a single opinion changed here. Care to continue anyway repeating the same lines?

The boycott will hurt Benchmade but i doubt it will drive out of business. (DPX is still around for crying out loud.) I just don't want to support them. I don't "need" a Benchmade it's just a hobby to me and I'd prefer to spend that money on products whose owners support my other hobbies. That being said the best thing to come out of this was seeing Lynn Thompson shoot a pencil in half from 20 paces. If you want to keep buying them than go for it, just don't tell people what to do.

That's fine, their choices their risk. Just like BM.

I can find equally as great products made by people who support my other rights.

In addition, those companies (with the minor exception of yeti, maybe) are not niche products like higher end knives. Many of the challenges knife owners/users face are similar to those gun owners face.

If they come for my guns, they will be along for your knives shortly if recent history of other nations that did gun bans is any indication.

Having been around craytab for years here, I know he agrees. I've never seen him flinch when it came to ethics. For whatever the reason, maybe he doesn't like some people here, idk, he has taken the stance he has here.

I don't think he'd trade his glock for a locked knife box for interstate travel in a million years.
You're right. I wouldn't. Unfortunately I do have to lock up my glock going through states where some of the so upset people here are posting from. If they care so much about 2a then why do they live where they do?

I just think this situation is massively over blown and misunderstood. Same thing happens on both sides of 2a camps.

No state is safe from anti-2A laws. I'm not sure why moving to one state or another would suddenly keep your rights protected. Who would have though a few short years ago that you would see restrictive gun control in states like Colorado. How about the former Gunshine state? Even in CT, we didn't have anything remotely close to what we have until Sandy Hook.

I've lived in CT for almost my whole life. I have a great paying specialized job here. My wife's family is here. I love the 2A and every other freedom this country has provided me. My family fled with the clothes on their back from Vietnam after the Communists seized their property. We were part of the boat people that escaped. We lived in a refugee camp for a year before a church sponsored us to come to the US. So I have those ties too.

So I pick my battles. As I mentioned before, I have testified against anti-2A laws before our state legislature. I'm active in local Pro-2A groups. Living in an anti-2A state doesn't mean I agree with everything they do.

And again. Thank you for doing what you have.

Where can I see this pencil busting feat?!

What does that say?

I feel ya buddy - being 2A in Hawaii is very difficult. We're an unnoticed backwater as well, not much figurative political sunshine. Corruption is super high in this one party state. Former HNL police chief and wife under major federal indictments now, really just the tip of the iceberg. While I don't generally want more fed involvement in my life I would love more outside investigation into our political masters here.
