Benchmade Discussion without Politics or Insults

I've never been so disappointed with a company as I have been with Benchmade over this entire fiasco.

Destroying the guns, the campaign contributions to gun banning politicians and the fact that they seem to be so clueless as to why people are so upset.

I own dozens of Benchmade knives. In fact, they've been the only brand of folder or fixed blade I've bought, used or carried for years.

I've always been very pleased with their design, quality and their customer service has always been outstanding.

I've recommended their products to dozens of people both in person and online, and I've bought them as gifts for family and friends.

Now, after they've obliviously made such a mess, I feel like I can no longer do any of these things in good conscience.

I won't be rushing out to buy competitors' knives I don't really care for them.

I'll continue to use the Benchmades I have but I will no longer recommend them and I will not be buying any more of the knives I love. All because of very poor judgment by Les and others at Benchmade. This whole thing just sucks.

They'll never get a cent from me. I love knives and have collected a long time, but I love guns and our 2nd amendment more than I do blades.

Also knowing that Benchmade has made political contributions to anti-gun Democrats the last few elections really irks me. I mean what makes them think that after they come after guns, then won't go after knives? Sorry Benchmade, but you are part of the problem. Adios.

@Benchmade deception and lying are 2 things I will never support in a company I spent good money on. In my business it's an indicator that you cant be trusted, and need to go. The more they dig in and push more of the fabrication the quicker termination happens.

If Benchmade wants to make this right, or even try, stop with the bs now. Don't try a pr move everyone can see right through. Publicly appologize, for real, for everything, and take responsibility. Own up to it and let us know where you really stand so customers can be educated in their purchasing decisions.

The profit you have gained through people like me being used for something I am in total disagreement with is probably where I stop ever again looking to Benchmades offerings. It's my money, all these people's money, that was used to destroy things I call sacred. Shame on you for this.

If you are truly pro 2a there are countless organizations that help lobby for representation. Make a knife maybe just so proceeds go to 2a organizations helping support the citizens rights to freedom and liberty. Start involving leaders in the gun community on your media platforms, and publicly advocate against laws that would infringe.

Just a friendly reminder or in case someone new to the thread missed it.
Despite this thread going political... imagine that , I'm inclined to leave it open for now as there's been no insults that I've noticed. As soon as the insults start though, this thread will be closed and the offending members will get a 30 day ban from BF's.

I never knew that that crossing state lines with a knife was that big of an issue. Any idea how many people have been arrested for it in the past few years?
People probably get arrested everyday for it. One knife in one state is legal and then when you cross states its illegal. Like Balisong or switchblade etc.

This bill would have let you go from one state to another with a knife. It doesn't actually let you carry the knife in the state.

So in my case, I could travel to Vermont from Connecticut with my 4" blade through Massachusetts and not be arrested for not obeying Massachusett's more restrictive knife laws. I could only stop for food or lodging, but I would have to leave the knife in the car.

This is the hill that Benchmade chose?

I understand fully what you are saying, but still stand by my statement that REQUIRED TAXES are not the same as VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS.
That being said, it's pretty sad when someone pays what could be construed as protection money to an official, who's salary already comes from that someone's taxes.
The whole system is getting screwed up everywhere, not just in Benchmade country.
Anyway bud, it's kinda fun to poke you when you're on a roll.
Which one does more harm to 2a? Benchmade throwing a couple grand around in a state that is very very 2a does nothing. 2a advocates continuing to live in, and support anti 2a state or city governments does far more damage. But some of these same people are outraged at benchmade? Look in the mirror first.

As a frequent traveler through states with extremely restrictive knife and gun laws, I can appreciate the effort.

On the statement, bm doesn't seem to grasp the look of their debacle.

BTW,
Is Oregon City that corrupt? He seemed terrified to actually address the issue, while basically saying he was paying cash "tribute" to local elected officials.
Careful. Shall we judge the corruption in your local?

I'm not going to support Benchmade any further. The fact that I bought a 940-2 and it arrived last Tuesday before this all started, has left a bad taste in my mouth. I really like the knife but I won't support Benchmade anymore it appears.

Unfortunately, I just err on the side of caution and just carry a smaller blade that is legal where I travel. At least for firearms, you're protected for interstate travel.

The benefits of interstate travel with a knife isn't worth the corresponding Anti-2A votes that comes along with it to me.

I agree. In what world is giving money to a politician who supported the undermining of our society justified because they supported land access!?

That is possibly the absolute worse logic I have ever heard.

Interstate knife travel in a locked box over the 2nd amendment?! :poop::thumbsdown:

I don't know why you feel the need to stick up for that.

I am highly disappointed in BM on this, less so for the gun cutting than I am about the political contributions.

I buy nice stuff, a pretty large chunk of nice things to be quite honest. Step on my 2a rights and I'll apply "get woke, go broke" with my spending.

The double-down video didn't help things, at all. I'm the resident knife guy at work and with my friends and influence many purchases of knives in the $50-150 range. I never recommend anti-2a companies.

At the end of the day, I'm not going to finance my political enemies. I was in the market for roto-milled coolers for hunting/camping/traveling. I bought pelican instead of yeti and am quite happy with the results.

One thing that would be kinda cool, if Benchmade had the metal from the destroyed guns incorporated into some high grade damascus for their Gold Line....a portion of the proceeds could be donated to various charities.

Marketing gimmick? Sure, but still...kinda cool.

I listened to the Les video, is obvious that some are going to hear what they want to hear, and from the comments on what he should have said, I don't know what to tell you. I can't convince you that nothing he said would have swayed you. You made that choice for him. I don't know what its like to be in that position thinking not only about my future but the future of an entire team of employees. I'd also be really thoughtful of the language I used to the point it might seem odd, because of who's next door and the language they speak.

I wish I had a cure for cognitive dissonance, but I don't. It would be nice because I think then maybe we would get somewhere, but y'all gotta do that on your own. Only person in your mind doing work is you, make sure you are in charge.

I mentioned this in the Political thread already but I thought I would mention it here to. IMHO The one of the major problems is Benchmade got caught at the worst possible time. Everyone has been on edge not only about guns, but the Democrats "Green New Deal" where they want to take away every ones car and reduce America to North Korean living standards. People were already in full blown Tea Party resistance mode. Benchmade to make things right is going to have to work that much harder to prove their loyalty to their customers, and overcome the negativity their actions have created.

This would just add insult to injury IMHO. At least it would for me.

Of course.
It's illegal.
Did you expect a different answer?
Corruption should be higlihighed exposed and stomped out everywhere.
Integrity matters.
Especially in business.
Having been around craytab for years here, I know he agrees. I've never seen him flinch when it came to ethics. For whatever the reason, maybe he doesn't like some people here, idk, he has taken the stance he has here.

I don't think he'd trade his glock for a locked knife box for interstate travel in a million years.

We all know and understand that you’re a socialist. Why you feel the need to continue telling everyone is beyond me.
Dumbest :poop: I’ve read. I’m not nor will I ever be. I’m just not on the side that shoots themselves in the foot them blames the other side because they can’t walk straight.
