Military added. Thank you for voting.I vote miltiary as well.
I'll put the Endura down for another. It's almost time to tally the final votes.I like the Endura for the durability, clip adaptability and availiability of a trainer. I use SCDU for the selection of tools. Selection, Carry, Deployment and Use. Using a knife against a human is no big deal since steel cuts flesh pretty easy. The hard part is knowing when and how to deploy the blade especially under stress. Even more so with a folder. For a primary defensive folder I only like tip down folders carried in the strong side pocket, drawn closed into a hamnmerfist grip and then opened if you need to. I have a little traditional MA training when it comes to edged weapons. I think very little of it transfers to the street. In the street it at least starts out as open hand vs knife. Those odds suck, they suck more if that is not what you train for.
I do this stuff for a living- train civilians and LEO's to stay alive. My vote goes to the Police model first (more so if you can find a G-10 flat ground Police, my
personal "bad neighborhood" blade) And either the Military or Endura next. And a 50/50 blade at most as fully serrated blades tend not to slash as deeply and
occassionally get caught in heavy clothing, especially zippers. PE is really best.
A couple of tips- get your Police bead blasted (not sandblasted) to improve the grip when sweaty, do not sharpen the swedge. Get some actual street
blade training from a reputable teacher. At least view some dvd's from shivworks, Keating, Janich. Practice and situational awareness is what keeps you alive.
BK6
I am kind of late to this party, but my current job description reads similar to yours Sir and the BK6. I would say to keep in mind the overall picture of your job description. When you evaluate your tools and speaking now from l.e.o and protection background, one trick ponies are appealing until you match it with the job. I will narrow it a little bit. The only thing you have is your objective. Gun, stick, knife whatever are just tools that you may have at hand to get the job done. There is too much emphasis on one or the other. In a extreme close quarter scrap, the differences are negligent at best.
I have had great success with the folder in a closed position as oppose to carving my way through a crowd! The folder should shine in the closed as well as open position. That may narrow some of your choices. It does not make it a bad knife, just matching what you need for your job. If it is the kind of work that I think you are referring to then being able to safely guide or change someones channel or get your folks from point a to b with the option of going lethal if need be is a win win.
If you are not already palming it(situational awarness), then you want to make sure you can access it quickly. If you chose the waistband upfront, with a sturdy belt, you will have no problems waving, but those who know me will not believe I am saying this, but the wave is not paramount for protection work(though it has its advantages), your folder will be more for a fistload to lethal as far use of force continuum. Sorry so long, but a pop to the sternum or another bony area or redirecting quickly is where you should start.
Military plus one+1 for the Military. It gives you more effective choices for holds and a bit more reach.
Plus one and one to DODO. Thanks for the picturesI have a flat ground SE G-10 police that hasn't left my pocket since "some guy"gave it to me.
On the SS police, my half serrated one is pretty grippy.

can't go wrong with the dodo (my baby civilian) either. You might want to check out spyderco.com's forums with some of the meat tests that Doc Snubnose does, and the Youtube video where Michael Janich demonstrates what a small blade (box cutter and delica CE) can do.
EDITED TO ADD: Here is the link to the Michael Janich Youtube video.

Thanks for the response. I'll post modifications when it come in. Also thank you for all the advice and effort.Jimping courtesy of either trianglular file or Dremel w/cutting disks.
I hope I can make it look that good. Thanks for the direction. I'll post the pics when it comes it. Thanks again.I did it by hand with a triangular file, and then a round file. They are semi-circular shaped, I found them grippier than just the cuts with the triangle. The files cut pretty easily.
A bit of friction tape on the non-clip side of the handle makes drawing from IWB easier, and I've found the stainless police to be one of the most comfortable IWB carry knives I own due to it's slim profile.
FWIW, the Endura 4 with SS handles I think is grippier than the Endura 3 but I've never handled one.
i went back, your double tab would have broken the tie at 10. I purchaes all three winners. Thank you for the votes. I'll be back with pics.It kills me to admit it because I want the Police to win but I actually had my vote for the Police counted twice.
For a nonspydie vote My Emerson Commander is a near perfect folder for draw cuts in a sabre grip and also has a Wave. It is also very very grippy with G10 slabs and jimping on most parts where you hold it.
You can get a VG10 Endura and a trainer from New Graham for around a 100$
And a MILITARY as back-up - with LISTEN SAL - TIP up carry.
