I think you are correct.... barrel oak type, what was matured in it before the whiskey, length of maturing, phase of the moon....An interesting theory Professer Mamba...but surely there are other factors...region ,types of barrel ...oh yes they all laughed at me at the Academy....but I'll show them ..my crazy theories are true I tell you.
mmm... Stella.... that is a great beer.... very nice half congress, as well.....
It's on my wish list.
Well, yes, it's good, but I love Bourbon and Scotch. I would not buy this myself. The box still had the price sticker: $119.99. I would rather have a $23 bottle of Wild Turkey 101 or Old Forester 100, or a $45 bottle of Laphroaig 10 year old. Maybe you could order a shot somewhere to try it out. It's on my wish list.
Is it good?
Thanks for sharing.

Maybe someone else can chime in if he's tried it.
Wait....you can get Laphroaig 10 year for $45 in Texas?!?Well, yes, it's good, but I love Bourbon and Scotch. I would not buy this myself. The box still had the price sticker: $119.99. Vince, I had intended to reply to this sooner, but it somehow slipped my mind.Ooh, I gotta try that, Gary! Had a Shiner Bock today. Good Texas beer!
Glad you liked it, Gary. Fun brewery to visit. Got this Spartan at the gift shop:Vince, I had intended to reply to this sooner, but it somehow slipped my mind.
I wanted to report that I finally tried Shiner Bock back in November, and thought it was pretty good! Over the past couple of years, several people had recommended I try it, but my usual grocery store apparently stopped carrying it about the time I finally decided to act on the recommendations. But in November, I went to a different grocery store for some reason (same chain, different location) and saw a 12-pack of Shiner Bock. So I picked it up and took it home.
I like bocks and doppelbocks, so this Shiner's was right up my alley. IMHO, probably not as good as Michelob Amberbock or Leinenkugel Doppelbock, but a very pleasant brew. Also, the label art is awesome, and the bottle cap is one of my all-time favorites!

Can't believe I didn't get a photo with a ram's horn knife! I'll have to buy more Shiner Bock soon to get that photo.
Another thing I liked about the beer was all the "reading material" on the bottle. (My parents always claimed I taught myself to read before I went to school by studying cereal boxes at the breakfast table.) Here's some of the fascinating literature from the Shiner Bock bottles.
