Big Folder Porn

D'Oh! I can't see the pic either. :(

I like the "contouring" on the G-10 on your SCQC-7. Did you do that or have it done by another? Dremel, file, sandpaper? Curious minds want to know. :D

Good stuff. Nice additions guys!

It was done two owners ago. He did the handles, and never carried it. Sold it to the guy I bought it from who never carried it. I carry it when I wear jeans. I will see if I can find out the method. I go back and forth on whether I like it or not. I sometimes like the regular G-10, but the contouring is unique. Good grip to.

I'm sorry y'all can't see the pic. If someone wants the pic just email me and I'll send it out :D !

As to the CQC7, it looks like a classic Dremel job to me. Nice job too, as I'd imagine it'd be really grippy.

Here is my favorite BIG folder by Gene Anderson. 5.5" blade, 12' overall, and great for picnics 'cuz it will cut a slice of cake in one swipe. ( for reference, I wear an XL glove)

The Cake Slayer!

That is one big, bold, beautiful, blade!

Speaking of which, what is that blade made from? And damn, that's a lot of pearl in those handles. If it is pearl?

Thanks for sharing as I love seeing pics of what everyone's collecting. :)

Beautiful knife severtecher! It has a very clean and sleek look to it that makes me tingle. I would also like to know the blade steel if you get a chance.

Spyderjon- Email me your pic at Skankhair@gmail.com if you get a chance. I'll try and post it here so everyone else can see it without you having to email them.

NGK was out of stock of the CQC-7B BT, so I am getting a Super CQC-7 from them instead. This works out great for me because I actually ordered the CQC-7B BT just before finding out the Super version existed (I think the pic in this thread was the first time I heard of one), and then wished I had got the Super instead. The price they quoted me is the same as I was going to pay for the normal version, and the Super isn't listed on their page, so I think they just listed the Super CQC-7 incorrectly on their webpage or something.

When the Super CQC-7 and 710SBKD2 get here I will take some new pics of all of my big knives together.

Hair, I emailed you the pic. Hope it works, though I'm not sure why others can't see if when I can. Oh well. If Hair IS able to post it, please keep in mind that the knife shown with it IS a Strider SMF, and NOT the smaller SNG.

For those that couldn't see the pic:

OAL: 10.5"
Blade: 5.25" from pivot to tip, w/4" cutting edge
Scales: 6.25"
Pivot: .5" hardened steel
Stop pin: .25"
Scales: 3/16" Ti
Liner: single locking liner, according to Ray its .063" or greater.

Now that knife belongs in a thread labeled "Big Folder Porn"!!!

That's a bad ass folding log splitter you got yourself! Glad the pic finally works. :D

Quick question: What's the blade steel?

Physics, the blade steel would be 3/16" of good old BG42! I'm personally rather happy it'll be here soon!!! Can't wait to play.

I'm glad the pic finally worked too. I told the guy it'll be nice to let my fingers actually spread out during use instead of being cramped up on that puny thing they seem fit to call a "handle" on the GB :D . Anyhoo, thanks for the compliments!

Thank you, Archangel and Rat. I was wondering when somebody would enter really big folders.:D I waited over two years to get my Gibbs CUDA MAXX 7" and I love both it and my CUDA MAXX 5.5". The shame is that I haven't a lot of places to carry them. Can you imagine pulling one out to slice a bagel at a Quaker gathering?

I can imagine. It would also be a slice of heavan to see the look on their faces.

Hey, Rat, why have the 7" CUDA MAXX modified to tip up? Mine has trouble staying closed as it is, tip down. The blade is so massive that it easily overcomes the detente that is supposed to hold it closed and it can almost be classified as a gravity blade.
