Bikers post here.

Thanks. My breathers froze up that winter and the pressure built up in my oil tank and blew it apart in 3 pieces along the seams of the oil tank .it sounded like a bomb went off when it blew apart.

Thanks AntDog. Yeah I won a 2013 softail slim in a Hog raffle at my local dealer. It made my year.

Had a 750 Yammie cafe bike and then a DR350 dual sport. Rode it every day for 10 months. Sun, rain, snow (and I mean a foot of snow on the road) you name it. I loved that bike. Then I had an accident, a lady pulled out in front of me and I had no time to stop. Got a perfect score on my riders certification. All I'll say is this:

1) Wear a SNELL certified full face helmet every time you ride. No exceptions. Mine saved my life.

2) Trust no one. I watched her stop at the street. She pulled out anyways. I went for a slide.

That bike took me to some cool places...

Damn! Heal quick brother!

It's a true saying: there are 2 types of bikers - those who have been down, and those who will.

My 07 GSXR750.
Brembo master cyc
Extreme Pro brake pads
Alth front rotors
Galfer rr rotor
Speigler steel brake lines, clipons
Vortex rr sets
Ohlins rr damper
Renthal alum rr sprocket(gear lower for a true 156mph top speed)
Dyno tuned with pipe and BCM Race filter

And a bunch of other stuff like aftermarket wind screen, plastics, Renthal grips, several titanium and alum bolts swapped out from the steel stuff, etc.

Altho some of the picc show reg Pilot Powers, I typically ran Dunlop D211 intermed. compound DOT race tires, or full on Ntec GP slicks.

I live next door to the Dragon and have ridden it for 35 yrs.I"m 53yrs old in these pics. Back in 2010, I went thru 12 sets of tires in one season there plus 1 Tally track day.

Used to roadrace as a young man. Was WERA national champ in 87. A few regional titles. All in B superbike(750cc). Here I am dicing for the lead at Little Taladaga GP road course. I'm #18 and multi world champ Scott Russell is #22. Before all that was 12yrs of MX racing.

The other bike. DRZ400SM supermoto.

Great bike for 'real' backroads here in the Smoky mtns.

I crashed the 750 a 1.5 yr ago after hitting some spilled engine case oil left over from a car/Harley head-on crash that had been towed away 20 minutes before I came thru that day. Broke my back in 7 places, neck in 2, punctured both lungs, lacerated kidney and liver, knocked out my 6 front teeth, broken left eye socket, every rib one side and half on the other, plus some other little stuff. 3 months in ICU, hospital, and rehab. All the time wearing a full body brace and halo bolted to my skull. Altho I still have some nerologic issues from the broken neck, I'm back riding again, but more so training hard to get back into cross country mtb racing. I raced those from 02 until about 2011. I've been hurt many times from riding/racaing 2 wheels, but this last one was pretty bad.

^^^good lord man! Freaking HARD CORE! Much respect man, much respect!

Good Lord how did I miss this thread,

In my profile in the pictures section is my 2011 Wide Glide. Going back to the 70s I had an HD motocross bike then a Husky. from there its been mainly HD bikes.I even worked at an HD dealership when I was 18.

I have been looking at the bikes that Longun posted. street or trail all in one bike. that is Genius!

a couple of pics of my wg. I change the seating around every so often,im doing the solo thing right now with a Mustang Diamond stitched solo seat and a Mustang studded fender bib,(no pics yet).

Sweet wide glide man! My uncle had an '86. I thought it was just about the coolest thing ever!

Thanks man, I bought it when it was just 1 year old. I put the V&H pipes on it and did the stage 1 and it runs like a Jet and sounds like a Dragster. I have lots of fun on it when im not working of course lol.

^^^Does this one count?

I realize it's a bit "cute", but about a minute after I took that photo, that cute thang had a rear wheel slideout with me sitting on it, and broke my left leg in two places after it landed on me(all 300+ lbs of it)... at 5 mph.

This is the resulting damage(2 panels and a left mirror are cracked/scuffed):

Sutures and bruising is from the surgery. The only outward sign of injury was that bit of road rash to the left of my kneecap, so I wasn't sure my leg was broken until they did the x-ray.

My gear for that day was a full face helmet(sitting on my seat in the first pic), leather gloves, long regular pants, and TCX Airtech Boots(includes a shin plate). My body armor was on order and wasn't set to arrive for another 2 weeks, so I decided to chance the scenic route before getting it. Not entirely sure it would've helped much, as much of what I was wearing didn't have a scratch aside from my left pant leg next to the kneecap.

I did get some mocking comments for going full gear on a scooter, but I bet none of those same guys would offer to pay off my ER bills.

I've since upgraded my boots from the old(left, black) to something more suitable for motocross(right, white):

Regrettably, that was almost 2 weeks ago(8/4/14), and I believe I have another month to go before I'm in any shape to ride again.

You can exercise all due caution, but life will throw you curveballs despite it all. I'm going with the ATGATT philosophy simply because the best gear money can buy is still going to be cheaper than a stay in the ER.

My first bike was a 1976 BMW R60/6

Second, a 1978 Yamaha XS750

Current, '95 BMW K75/3 w/ABS.

I have to admit, I miss the boxer, but that K75 is the smoothest machine I have ever been on. :)

Hey sometimes ATGATT still won't save your ass.... It sucks, but you can be prepared and outfitted to the gills, and sometimes chit still happens. Heal quick Noctis, and yes, your bike counts. Everybody with two wheels and a motor is welcome here.

Amen. Got a perfect score certifying on my riding test, had hundreds of miles of off-road experience, thousands on, but everyone is susceptible to a cager pulling out at the wrong time. I wore everything and still lost a digit.

True, but I think the gear is mostly a reflection of the attitude and respect one has for the activity, scooter or not. I'd also appreciate the better gear if it means I only end up with a cracked bone rather that two broken ones. I'm sure I'd prefer to spend $3k on gear rather than $3k on ER bills.
