Brass is back on the menu... GEC #44

They simply just stayed with two toolings for bolsters instead of going to three just to accommodate the stag.

Not knowing how things are made, I was just wondering why they did not use the same tooling that they used on the brass, for the nickel silver bolsters on the stag? Would that have not been possible?

Didn't somebody say GEC was shipping the stag ones to distributors last Friday? I would have thought that the distributors would have been shipping theirs out by now. Kinda thought we might have been seeing pictures of them here by now. I am really looking forward to seeing them here soon. Thanks.

I kinda thought about that, too. But I think that stamped, flat end cap used on the Cocobolo and jigged bone - which in turn allows the slabs to be flat, would not work well with the way they'd need to transition the Stag. Again, I think that's why - not sure. Were there ever any Stag Washington Jacks?

They are shipped and some dealers already had them up for sale a few days ago. It just depends where the dealers are at and how quick they want to turn them around or ship out to us. I anticipate a message from mine any minute now basically. I have seen a few photos pop up in the FB groups but none here yet really. I imagine you will see a smattering of them real quick

(2) It may vary one day by where the dealer is at (CONUS); but there are many factors other than a dealers desire to turnaround. For example, several dealers won't see their full order in hand until late next week. And since they want their customers to see all the choices - it complicates the process.

When mine arrives
I’m guessing some dealers are on vacation for the 3 day weekend . So hoping mine will be shipped next week sometime plus I’m sure they’ll have there hands full trying to catch up on all the orders when there back .

I got lucky and was able to pick mine early. But like I mentioned on a early post they all looked fabulous and was very hard to pick one lol.Don’t think you can go wrong on any of them they all had really nice stag .

Wow the stag 44s are on evil bay for well over $200 now...about the same price as a Northwoods stag gunstock at this point.
Every one I've seen are beautiful though. Frank said all the stags he just got in are amazing too so I hope he picks me out a good one.

And on a side note...he said the redezvous whalers have been selling for over $600! Jeezus!

You got a pretty good one my friend . I really like the colors in that Stag . They did a good job at the transitions to the bolsters and the Stag thickness on each side is pretty much the same . I hope that mine looks that good . Congrats on a fine knife my friend .

I wonder why the 44 stag models do not have grooved bolsters and are lacking the bottom bolster UnXld stamping. This would have been a nice extension of the other Northfield 44’s, especially since no shield on the stag 44’s.

The stag 44s I have seen on the forum and dealer websites have been top shelf, so maybe they just let the stag speak for itself?!

A brass 44 with stag would be nice.......
