Breaking Blade news...no BS

Reading comprehension, friend. I can only hope I don't have to tell you what the words "something" and "like" mean.

all well and good, but the picture looks "something" "like" a Western W49 Bowie with Becker handles and "Nothing" "like" a Hudson Bay knife.
Going by your apparent definition of "something like", there is minimal difference between a Model T pickup truck and a Yamaha motorcycle. both are ground vehicles with drive shaft providing power to the rear wheel drive, gasoline powered engines, paint...

It's an upswept clip point with a curved spine, no guard, but some sort of bolster near the ricasso. The only Becker attribute that would get in the way of a Hudson Bay design in any way is the forward bump on the handle—which, to be honest, I've found I don't like anyway.

The HBK was a lot more like a butcher knife than a Bowie. Spine slightly curved up to a hump, then a relatively short straight clip down to a fairly broad point.

Oh, yeah -- back on topic & the reason I was reading this thread in the first place: I like D2 as a blade steel, and with a fine diamond stone it's not difficult at all to sharpen.
I'm also in the group that would like to see a D2 version of the BK16 (BK26, anyone?) :)

Yes, that would be a closer analogy. His was closer to the truth though.

But the intent of the blade is irrelevant. The intent of a Buck 110 is to be a fine, compact knife for hunters, and I've used it for anything but. I've heard of people batoning with it FCOL.

Unless there's some machismo factor to only owning knives that are advertised as combat utility—two words that do not typically describe "butcher" knives—I don't see why it's so impossible for Ethan to design one. I'd strip it, get some wood and brass hardware for it, and it would be a really nice substitute for that Bark River Hudson Bay I keep seeing in my dreams.

you guys are making me laugh :)

Your evil laugh? Like when you are about to push the warning button for going off topic?

I'll be perfectly happy with D2. Everyone should be happy that they are trying to change things up a bit and offer us something a bit different. I'm sure the D2 will increase the price some and thats ok with me. It is after all a more expensive steel, so it should be expected.

Yeah, I am wondering as well if there was anything besides the D2 14 and the kitchen knives?

Nope, new knives release in January of each year, then sold at Blade. The BK24 was an awesome decision that was made a while ago, and has been being implemented for a while. Barring final approval, you should see them soon.

And ESEE has the new kitchen knives.

Nothing else to see here, except some JAB prototypes and some Customs made by Steve Johnson. You'll be seeing more of them soon.

Not enough? Wells, its all we got for now.

But there were pics of the KaBar booth that had something unknown in it. Whats laying next to the Combat Kukri that Tooj just released? Its MUCH bigger than the newest Kukri. What Iiisss It ?

I think that's the Black Kabar Kukri #1249

Next to the 9, 12 and 14:

I am pretty sure that the new Combat Kuk is about the same length as a BK-9 and, the thing next to it looks MUCH larger and has a different blade shape than the Machete

Hey stud, are they gonna be stamped like that one at blade or lasered?

I agree. It looks like a big chopper with a straight blade edge with kinda a reverse kukri shape for the spine.

Its the Kukri Machete, there was no new blades there but Steve Johnson's Customs and a proto. I'll let ya'll know all about it, trust me.

Laser etched.

Kitchen set will be a few more months out. Maybe late July early August. MAYBE. I can't speak for ESEE, remember that.

JAB Seek info coming later, promise.

no, the combat khuk is fairly petite.

the other was Toooj's other normal large khuk design
