Yes, I can see the crease in your burl. It is a matter of opinion whether that is a defect or a character mark. I'll admit that if I had gotten that particular handle, I might have been a bit put off at first as I can be a bit of a perfectionist myself. However, I wouldn't be complaining because I understand the nature of working with natural materials. And if it really put me off, I'd contact the maker to see if I could get something more to my liking instead of whining that it wasn't up to my expectations. Seriously, why haven't you taken up your complain with the man who can get you something more to your liking?

That's why I said what I said. Am I loyal to BRKT? Sure, but I have been on their forum for 2 years now and witnessed their excellent customer service skills. You aren't giving them the fair shake that they would gladly give to you. It's a courtesy thing, I guess. They really try to be courteous in a world that has forgotten how.

I didn't buy it from BRKT. I'm sure BRKT can produce one without such an obvious an ugly flaw - especially in amboyna burl. If you look at that particular burl in their ads and even in the list of pictures submitted above (which strangely OMITTED the amboyna burl example, but which I include here), you'll see that is so.

I'm counting on the vendor to check it this time, before sending it out.

Plain and simple: you're a know it all jerk. I've seen it in most of your postings and I've experienced it first hand. You should, in the future, try to rectify before acting like a jerk and trying to sully the name of a great company.

This is obviously personal animosity towards Mike Stewart, because he called you on your ignorance and bad behavior over on the other forum, and banned you (for good reason) because of it. You could have handled this without the big show and tell scene.

I've posted pictures of all the new knives I've bought since being on this forum. I did say it was perfect, except for the ugly flaw in the burl. Others also noted that they'd return the knife, that it should not have even left the factory that way, and that it's just a horrible looking flaw.

This is the first time in several years I've felt compelled to ask a vendor for a replacement. Many others noted they would do the same thing.

The thing bothering you is that I'm the one saying it. That sounds like personal animosity.

It looks fine to me, but we are all entitled to our own opinion. I would have waited to see how this went before airing it here.

Personally, the handle is an eyesore to me, but thats my personal taste. The only reason that I'd be making such a stink would be because either Bark River, or the place I ordered it from didn't honor any kind of return and treated me badly, which is not the case here.

Why did you start this thread before your "issues" were resolved, one way or the other?

Is this thread to tell us that the vendor/BRKT is Good or Bad? Or just so you could vent? I see no sense in posting any of this until it is resolved.

Just my 2 copper's worth.

BTW, someone PM me a link to the KF thread...I can't find it! :D
