I don't have any larger folders right now (expect for a cough*auto*cough, a bali and a Buck hunter). But they seem to work fine on my Delica and BM 556. Do these work well on the Millie, Police and AFCK?
I´ll have to see if it works with my Spyderco Native. I don´t want to flood the mailbox of Brownie again, could someone else send the instructions please?
I just tried the technique with my Benchmade 690 and it is a speed demon with this method. This is easily the fastest opening method I've tried with my 690.
I also tried it with my Spyderco Police but it's a little more difficult, I think the Spydie drop might be a little faster and easier with the Police.
Thanks Brownie for sharing this technique with us.
I appreciate hearing the positive results posted by my sending the narrative. It is easier to show it and took sometime to write a description to where it could be understood by most.
As brownie has probably already stated, it works best with linerlockers with large blades, as it's basically an inertial opening.
I tried it with my AXIS AFCK, but because the springs exert a constant spressure on the blade, you need to pull up the arm and flick hard. No problem with linerlockers, though.
Hello, I'd appreciate it if you sent a copy to alf_yu@hotmail.com. Thanks.
I suspect that I've been using something similar all along with my linerlocks and Axis AFCK. There's only so many ways you can get a knife open with an inertial opening while having the hand in a natural grip position. Much better than fumbling for a thumbstud or thumbhole and it's so fast that people don't see the knife coming out of the pocket, they just hear the click of the lock snapping into place. I think by now all my friends are too terrified to ask me to cut anything.
sph3ric pyramid: It's not inertial. That would require movement on an arc. The afck is a fast knife with the pop and no wrist flicking is involved. It works quite well with lockbacks as well but the linerlocks are easier as a rule as you stated.
As an exampple, I can pop the police model and the new spyderhawk PE limited recently released with no problems. The more practice and developed muscle memory on the liners types will get you to the lockbacks just fine.
Natives, crickets, etc are not for this type of opening. I don't consider them a defensive knife so that is not an issue where you would need the speed to begin with.
