??Buck 110 Release Tomorrow (01/10/2022)??

I'm mostly pleased with mine. My two nit-picks are the blade centering and the grind. It was sharp but ugly. I'd rather the knife be sent to me unsharpened. I ran it through its paces with the factory edge and felt like I could improve it. The Magnacut feels different on the stones. It wasn't difficult to work up a burr and refine it. I would say it is easier to sharpen than S30V. I couldn't say (yet) which I can make sharper, but it took and is holding the edge. It looks a lot better to me than the toothy as issued grind and is making smoother cuts in paper, wood and if I shave anymore hair on my legs I might have a shot at Joe Namath's old job.

I can see just a little area that I missed, but much better. I used 220, then 320, then 600. Finished with Flitz. Less than an hour, but I should have had to do it.
Excellent work

I received my order over the weekend. I am happy. The blade is perfectly centered. I cleaned a lil residual polishing compound out and the knife functions without a hitch. The grind on the one I received is a bit wavy, more so than I have noticed before. It will clean up without a problem through use and sharpening.

I got mine the other day and looked at it quickly. I had not noticed the issue with the lock release area not being properly polished. I am not as picky as some, but that I feel is a issue. Disappointing for sure....

All,
A couple notes.

1. The thumb depression is not polished out on any 110 version. Standard or otherwise. Some might look better than others as received to us, but no secondary processing is done. Duly noted that it is a pain point for you all and we will look into the cost associated with doing this.
2. Edging and Sharpening are two different parts of making an Edge. Parts one is putting on the initial grind and raising a burr (edging). Part two is removing the burr (sharpening). Sorry, but I can't comment on the changes we made.

If you have any issues with Fit and finish, get ahold of us and we will get it fixed for you.

Jeff

So an announcement has been made "If your knife is not right you will get a prepaid return label and a refund (........?) Since it was a 1000 knife run they will not be able to repair your knife."

So if you send it in your not gonna get it back......?

I think this needs to be verified.....

It's a common 110 with a upgraded blade.

Other than "fit and finish" as Mr Hubbard referred to, what could possibly be a reason they couldn't repair the knife?

And If this is true, does that imply that a resold knife essentially has no warranty.....?
I doubt money would be refunded to anyone that is not the buyer on file......

Great way to stop flippers, but it could de-value a knife if this became policy in the future.

Edit:
I've read of others having quality issues with limited run knives, and rather than fix them Buck is just refunding money.......

$$$?

I feel like a lot of people are paying a working man's price for a working man's knife and getting upset that it's not a premium display piece worthy of its own glass case in their finely adorned study where it shall ne'er see the toil of the common laborer.

I tend to agree with you. But at the same time Buck and BCCI should coordinate their respective statements.

i feel it's possible to critique an instagram hypebeast release drop of 1k knives twice the price of a vanilla 110. didn't really see anybody in this thread hyperventilating and screeching swearing off Buck knives forever. it's possible to both appreciate and hold accountable a storied manufacturer of beloved blades.

Am I the only one who feels if there is a LIMITED run knife produced that it should be spot on with ZERO issues??? 🤔
John:)
It's a 110 with an upgraded blade steel. Happens to be one of if not the least expensive knife offered in that blade steel so far.
The run of the mill 110 is not some highly finished polished gem, it's a rough and ready work knife, the extra cost is more than justified in the blade steel. Wasn't expecting a hand finished knife at that price point with those features. Some folks sound like they got one that slipped past QC, which Jeff has reached out and offered to help get fixed. I swear, some folks would complain even if they were getting hanged with a new rope.;)
