Can anyone here make this knife for me?

I will be ordering some 2" 1084 and will be making a few of the other types w/o the slit. After this one I don't want to screw around with Ti anymore. Shoot me an email if you are interested.

I have a small 1 1/2" chunk of 1/8 1084 and I will crank out one before tomarrow night.

That tear jerker looks like an interesting lathe project. May have to give it a try. Kinda adds a new twist to the term "engagement" ring.
I would like to see some of your work on this Wallet Knife project. I appreciate all of the involvement on this design because it would be a waste for it not to be made anymore.

My Titanium Tear-Jerker Ring is my own design. It is made out of Grade 5 Ti. I wanted a self-defense ring that didn't look aggressive. So I came up with this. Instead of aggressive looking spikes, I have sharp corners instead, so it looks industrial instead. Bruce from Boonerings.com is the one who actually manufactured it.

I may have to make a couple with some thin burl veneer handles. I have alot of maple burl scraps that are too thin for knife handles. The credit card knives would look cool with a burl handle and polish blued finish.

Brent,

You did a great job with this one, been following the thread for a bit now. As for sausage fingers, yours are dainty, I just measured mine, and they go .9 inches at the knuckle. Anyway, that's probably why the commercial ones go to 1"

Thanks Carl, I just had the picture that was posted to go by. I printed it out and then shrunk it until it was about the dimensions of a credit card. The edge plunge was hand filed because Ti gets too hot too quick to grind even on very low speeds. Ti does not like to filed either. it's a very pissy metal.

That would be awesome!!

Bent,

Yeah, I have played with Ti for survival darts in my PSK. Like them alot, but always hate to work them. You did a good job on this one.

I have a new mill (new to me) that I have to get on a table and start playing with. Makes the mini-mills look like toys, hopefully, I can get that setup to start playing with to do things like these slots you make look effortless.

You going to Blade West?

Just fire that hog up and get the chips flying. I really like the carbide and cobalt steel bits. They are spendy but totally worth it. For Ti they are almost required unless you have unlimited time.

I doubt I will make it to blade this year.

Death's Head, I just have to enlarge the two holes and then polish them and it should be good to go. Last night I was sharpening the edge trying to get it as good as possible for Ti. I use 120 RPM for grinding Ti so it is very slow going but it does polish real quick so that is the upside. Diamond paste and low RPM's seems to do the trick.

Shoot me an email if you can. I have never been able to email out on these forums and I don't like publicly posting mine.

That would be something I would buy. Just imagining it makes me giddy.

burl would look cool, i was think about using my home made jean micarta for the scales. that would be pimpin. also death head i am having the orders roal in from people you talked to on the other sight. it looks like im going to have to order a lot of steel. im also doing a super sweet design that i think you will love. i have been working on it for a wile now and am hopeing to get it done so you can see. lets just say youl want one and leve it at that, hehehe. do you want me to still make you the knife?

Here is the rough ground version of mine so far. I talked to "Death's Head" early on and got some time to work on it yesterday. This one is 3/16" D2, certainly a lot heavier than B Finnigan's! I am going to add some filework, and clean it up before heat treating. I've never made anything like this before, it was kind of fun. I don't have a milling machine, and I didn't use any drill bits over 1/4", some serious filing done on this one!

You've peaked my curiosity and have gotten me excited. If your new design still has the same functions as this one, then I will wait for it.:D Wanna give me an idea on what your design is about?

Whit, that is one fine job that you did! I just don't get how you guys pull that file work off and make the holes so round.

Cheif-Yeah, I see you peaking. Greetings and welcome to BF. Throw in your 2 cents if you like.

JTknives. I have been getting a lot of support for the slot in the knife. I believe they want it for the use of paracord wrapping as well as keychain carry. Will it be difficult to have one in? I am asking because I know you are using some of your own artistic ability on this one and tweaking the design here and there.

Hey DH,thx for the greeting.I'll leave the designs up to the professionals. My knowledge of knives leaves alot to be desired.I'm just anxious to see what you guys come up with.I gotta say though I really like the Ti one B Finnigan made.

Death's Head I have not got your email yet. I have never had an email go through off these forums myself.

Whit, looks good! When it comes to Ti I don't think milling is any faster then a good sharp file. The one I made is .137 or machinist's oversize 1/8". Even running my 2x72 at 40% speed it still gets hot within 3-4 seconds on a brand new 320 belt. It is very time consuming to grind for 4 seconds quench dry off and grind again. There also is not much to hang onto.

Ti is best left to be used on SR-71's and medical implants. Ceramic tooling bits are what most commercial machinists use since they don't have a temper heat level in which they go dull.

B Finnigan, I emailed you using BF. I'll try again. Here's my email address for now just in case my email doesn't go through again.

its not a problem to do a slot, i will juse use a drill and dril out bothe ends and use a dremial tool to cut out the space between and then go at it with the file. my new design is kinda like the hide away knife but with some changes that i think will make it easer to control and be stronger. im so in love with it.

death head this is the design i have been working on. let me know if you like it. im just posting this so you can see what im doing im not giving away the design. im hopeing to be able to get some of these out into hunting and survile stores soon. here it is. i can do it 2 way with the handle, 1 keep the Number 8 shape or i can remove the little dip between the finger holes so the handle is straight. i gess its what ever you want. i can also put difrent blade styles on it depending on what you like. also the blade right now is at 2" but can easley be extended to 2.5 or even 3". but by doing it at 2 i keep the while knife around 4" long so it can fit allmost anywhere. i call it "The Patriot"

Just my 2c but the handle going below the cutting edge like that makes it harder to use except in a hawkbill style, i.e. sink the tip & let it rip. The original design allows for a higher alternative grip and almost a skinner blade use. This version is more like a 2 holed HAK in geometry. Again JMO but I would prefer a more utilitarian knife, similar to the original, than purely defensive one.
