"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Not to mention Nichelle Nichols aka Lieutenant Uhura.
She wore a uniform that boldly went where no space uniform had gone before.
I was going to put something about The Klingons and firing photon torpedoes but Starfleet command would transport me to the brig....dammit Jim I'm a traditional knife enthusiast ,not a doctor!
ALL the women on Star Trek wore short skirts, and I think Kirk kissed them all! Bet they'd have different uniforms if filmed today.

The first Avengers I saw, since nobody asked, Was REMAK (not a foreign agent's name, as we thought, but an acronym for Remote Electro- Matic Agent Killer. (Scary, sometimes, what I remember.) Tara was being groomed for a spin-off, because she was ostensibly on holiday, but being squired around the countryside by Ian Ogilvey (?)(terribly handsome, and terribly blahzay, and driving a terribly expensive looking roadster). She'd say "Please wait for me here, Binkie (or Fopster, or whatever) and she liked that he never asked questions, even when she'd disappear underwater for 20 minutes at a time.
Meanwhile Steed was trying out yet another partner, one Lady Ethelbertha Tripe-Whoopsy Fancypants Ramsbottom Ampersand Saloon Balderdash (this is a made-up name of a fictional character, and any resemblance to any actual person or name is purely coincidental, don't try this at home). She was painfully skinny and held her samurai sword with both fists jammed against the tsuba, so as not to take advantage of the leverage provided by the long handle.

Jer, I don't recall ever watching The Avengers, but your description of your first experience with the show has certainly piqued my curiosity!!:p:thumbsup::thumbsup: Why would this Steed chap invest any time at all in this Lady ET-WFRASB if she handles a samurai sword as you describe???:eek::D:D

LOL! :D I came in just after Honor Blackman (delicious as Pussy Galore in Goldfinger) left, and Diana Rigg replaced her :) I sometimes see Avengers DVDs for sale at silly prices, but you can probably find most of them online. Very much of its time, but fantastic fun :)

I think a lot of stuff about martial arts was not widely know back then. Honor Blackman wrote a self-defense book in which she claimed that judo was the deadliest martial art ever devised. I always heard judo was a modern sport derived from ju-jitsu. I suspect judo was a Western cover-term for Asian martial arts.

But to return to Ginger vs Mary Anne, Mrs Peel all the way.

They did:

Hmmmmmmmmm........I think Kirk had moved on by this stage..this is not Original Trek.
On a completely unrelated matter ...recommended viewing for history buffs:
One Million Years BC starring Raquel Welch....but do not be duped by the fur bikini clad temptations of Ms Welch .
The best scene features the delightful and very talented actress Martine Beswick...who incidentally played a Bond girl as well.

Maybe we should change the subject before we all have to swim to France and beg Catherine Deneuve for asylum.
Yes good idea.
The most annoying hag on any show ever was Gladys Cravitts...the nosy neighbour off Bewitched...or was she? There was an even bigger PITA on that show....with all due respect to the actress who played the character.

Darwood was great! So was Larry Tate.

Bah! Now Imgur has gone on a bender here in Europe, first I couldn't access images, now I can but can't add to them or paste images on here....hope this isn't another P-Bucket fiasco...:poop::eek::(
