Sabrina? I think. Maybe it was Serena.Old Dustbin took a lot of crap from Endora. Not that he had much choice.
I can't remember the name of Samantha's free-spirited twin sister.
Just googled it: Wikipedia and IMDb say it's "Serena." Not sure why I thought it was Sabrina. Maybe they used both, like Bluto and Brutus on Popeye. No, I think you're right: Sabrina.
Wasn't there a show called Sabrina, the Teen-Aged Witch at some time in the past?Just googled it: Wikipedia and IMDb say it's "Serena." Not sure why I thought it was Sabrina. Maybe they used both, like Bluto and Brutus on Popeye.
By Jove, you're right! (Never saw it, though.)Wasn't there a show called Sabrina, the Teen-Aged Witch at some time in the past?

Yes good idea.
The most annoying hag on any show ever was Gladys Cravitts...the nosy neighbour off Bewitched...or was she? There was an even bigger PITA on that show....with all due respect to the actress who played the character.
Sure, Endora was bitter. She had a right to be. Her daughter was denying her family's rich cultural and ethnic heritage in order to assimilate into the dominant culture. "Passing" for mortal to please her husband, she was a metaphor for the subjugation of women and minorities in middle class, mid twentieth century America.Old Dustbin took a lot of crap from Endora. Not that he had much choice.

I am SO naive!Sure, Endora was bitter. She had a right to be. Her daughter was denying her family's rich cultural and ethnic heritage in order to assimilate into the dominant culture. "Passing" for mortal to please her husband, she was a metaphor for the subjugation of women and minorities in middle class, mid twentieth century America.
Beverly Hillbillies was a stinging satire of class warfare and the divide between antiquated agrarian customs, and post industrial elitism.
Don't get me started on the tragedy that was Gilligan's Island.
.
Exactly my point. Endora was a powerful, independent woman. That's why she was so frustrated by her daughter Samantha's life choices. I suppose it wasn't fair to take it out on Darren, but it's no easy feat taking on the patriarchy.Sabrina or Selena I believe was Sammys sister. Was she actually played by Elizabeth Montgomery credited as Pandora Spocks?
R8shell those are spot on summings up of the shows..
.Jed Clampetts simple backwoods ways and old world wisdom pipped Milburn Drysdales shady high finance wheeler dealering at every post.
As for Gilligan and his Island my only question is ...If the Professor could build an exercise bike to power a radio out of twigs vines and bamboo....why couldn't he fix a 2ft hole in the side of a boat? The show was only "rescued" by Thurston Howell III and Lovey who mysteriously managed to maintain their high society country club lifestyle . That and the occasional appearance of a man in that awesome Gorilla suit.....and Ginger and MaryAnne...
Meanwhile..I'm afraid I can't agree.
Endora was a powerful liberated divorced woman with a no nonsense take no prisoners attitude.
Then there was Uncle Arthur .
No. THE most annoying hag was Durwood Stephens own mother...utterly hopeless.
Hope that clears things up...I could go on for hours but I'd turn into the cable guy.
Boy all that symbolism and meaning... guess that's why I watched The Monkee'sSure, Endora was bitter. She had a right to be. Her daughter was denying her family's rich cultural and ethnic heritage in order to assimilate into the dominant culture. "Passing" for mortal to please her husband, she was a metaphor for the subjugation of women and minorities in middle class, mid twentieth century America.

If it was a 3 hour tour, why did they have so much luggage?Exactly my point. Endora was a powerful, independent woman. That's why she was so frustrated by her daughter Samantha's life choices. I suppose it wasn't fair to take it out on Darren, but it's no easy feat taking on the patriarchy.
As to why The Professor couldn't patch the boat? Has it occurred to anyone that he could, but wouldn't? What was his nefarious plan, in keeping them all stranded?![]()
Only the Howells. If it was a 3 hour tour, why did they have so much luggage?
