I hope your feeling better today Modoc ED. Nothing worse than major incisions in the Pie hole, I had my eye teeth knocked in playing catcher with my twins before a little league game because I didn't have a catchers mask on . Don't be afraid to take a Vicodin if you have to because they are pretty mild and if you don't take them just make sure you dispose of them properly so they don't end up in the wrong hands.

Last night I went to dinner with my daughter and her family at the Texas Road House. Like families do they insisted on buying my dinner and the total bill was $83 so since they paid for dinner I thought I'd leave the tip. Now we had a particularly nice waitress and my meal was free so I thought I'd leave her a really good tip and handed her $30. When she brought Chris's credit card and receipt back she was smiling and just kept thanking us for her tip and said she had never had a tip like that. When we got in the car to go home it seems I forgot to say I had given her $30 so Chris and Christy had given her $20 each not realizing both of them and myself had all left tips so our total tip was $70 for a $83 bill.
No wonder she was ecstatic. :D

It made her day I'm sure. Good service is so hard to find, maybe it will spark some of her co-workers to step up their game :D

Great story, Randy. Left a 30% tip myself last night. I was a waiter myself, and several of my sons have been too. There are many people who leave bad tips or even no tips.

My father-in-law makes it a habit when he gets great service not only to tip well, but to ask to speak to a manager. It’s pretty funny sometimes because the manager will sometimes look wary, like a complaint is coming, but they always seem very pleased when their wait staff gets complimented.

I need to remember to do that once in a while. In a day where everybody is complaining, a compliment can really stand out and make people feel good.

Often the difference between a bad tip and a good one is only a few dollars, and it's nice to make someone's day. Something to bear in mind, is to base the tip not only on a percentage of the bill, but on how long you take up the table. I try to overcompensate for the groups of ladies who split a dessert and sit a long time over coffee.

I ate with some friends at one of those little Mexican places where you pay at the register after the meal. As the manager was ringing up our bill, I hear this exchange:

My friend: "The carne asada was-"
Manager, without looking up or skipping a beat: "I'll take it off your bill."
friend: "No. I was going to say it was very good today."

I don't think he'd ever heard that sentence end that way before! :p

That's coming right along Jer keep posting your progress because this is very cool. I have my grandfathers banjo and need to restore it. It's somewhere between 100 and a 150 years old.
Thank you, and good luck with your grandpa's banjo.
It's amazing what there is on the internet. I got my detailed instructions for whittling friction tuning pegs and sockets from a guy on u-tube who makes banjos out of cookie tins.
I was going to do my own pegs, but then out of the blue the Llamasery (Python reference) offered me six geared guitar tuners for $6.74 delivered. That's almost as good as using something that was lying around the basement.
The ridge at the head end of my neck here will disappear when I cut the head back at 13-15 degrees.

That big Irwin clamp is a real crusher.

I'll have to try that pilot hole technique, v_p!! It is sometimes a "moment of truth" getting a hole started with a punch!!:D

Awwwww yeah you right, it's Fat Tuesday, baby! Happy Mardi Gras, y'all! It is a perfect 50* with clear skies down here today.

Live a little larger today; eat the good food, laugh a little louder, love a little longer, and dance like no one is watching!

My little booger had a blast on the parade route this morning, and I'm firing up the grill now listening to the greatest radio station in all the land: WWOZ.
