Sorry to hear things didn't go as smoothly as they might have Charlie. Heal fast my friend, it's great having you backCongratulations to your Wife, Jeff! It is encouraging to hear all these people having great luck with this surgery!!
I am a bit behind schedule, with my healing, but we are on the road now.
They kept me in the hospital a few extra days to sort some issues, but I'm feeling like I'm catching up - slowly.
Hard to sit here right now, but I'm on the path back!
Thanks for everyone's concerns.
I apologize for missing a lot of posts; It won't be too long. We've got a BF knife to wrap up!!
Later, folks!!
Great to read you again, Charlie. Please, let the time do his job, waiting for a knife is a pleasure in itself anyway, so one more week or two does not count.Congratulations to your Wife, Jeff! It is encouraging to hear all these people having great luck with this surgery!!

I wonder if Charlie had them save that old hip bone for GEC?!Thanks for the update on your post-surgery progress, Charlie! It's great to see you posting again, and I pray that your recovery will be swift and complete!
Your original hip was bone. What material did you go with for the replacement? Bone again? Maybe a durable wood like ebony, walnut, or osage orange? Something rare such as mammoth tusk? Or perhaps a synthetic - delrin, micarta, titanium??

Being basically the same pattern, but with titanium and screws, would make him a “modern traditional” I believe.titanium??

Yes, but they're elephant tested (or is it proof?)!Just shelled out for a Tilley hat, about £70 here, and at that price I was expecting it to be "Handmade with Canadian Persnicketiness"

How the mighty are fallen!
Mine's made in Canada, but it's 15 years old. Now that I know they've pulled this stunt, I'll go ahead and see about that lifetime warranty. My lining has worn through at the edge between brim and crown, but will that count as a worn out hat?
Exact! My 45+ yo Barbour jacket has badly worn cuffs and I once brought it back to the shop to have them mended. The price asked was way too much in regard of the trouble wearing worn cuffs on a mc jacket every %!Just like Barbour, or Taylor's Eye WitnessIt's one thing if companies are honest about sending work overseas, but when companies still trade off their heritage while doing so, I think it stinks. A lot of outdoor companies offer lifetime warranties, and they're great marketing, but in practice I've found they don't often amount to much, and they know most people don't return stuff. I once wrote a large magazine supplement on waterproof clothing, and I singled out the 'no quibble' lifetime guarantee offered by a company called Paramo, as demonstrating a high level of product confidence. They used that quote on their advertising for years. A couple of years back, I contacted them because one of the poppers over the zip had broken. They told me to send it in, and they'd fix it. It probably cost me the best part of £10 to send it to them, then they wanted £20 in admin fees before they'd send it back! It would have been cheaper for me to get the jacket fixed in the market. I think Tilly's guarantee currently, is that they will sell you a new hat at 50% of the RRP - that's a con-trick! W.L. Gore sold a lot of Gore-Tex jackets on the strength of their 2/3 year warranty - that guarantee wasn't worth a thing. Good luck with your hat Jer, maybe a nice Canadian lady will fix it with a needle and thread
