Now the thread runs into my direction - keep it going on chatting about beer :D

What Fausto says is the truth - I was buying beer just yesterday and saw about a dozen of guys buying the Big German Breweries empty. But just a few bought the local stuff, made with long brough knowledge and a much better taste (my experience).... I´m just drinking a Kapsreiter Märzen Beer made in Schärding, Austria :)
 
Very nice Andi :thumbup: It's the same here also, people who really appreciate good beer are in a minority, but that minority is growing.

Fausto, I don't know if you ever had the Bredog Alice Porter. Personally, it's not my favourite style, but Alice Porter, that the beer is named after, is a friend of mine :)

I did try it actually. I'm not a fanatic of porter's myself, but I do enjoy one from time to time :rolleyes:
As for the "craft vs large production" beer thing, not everything is for everyone...but I wish more people (at least here) gave craft beers a honest try. Fortunately, these beers are getting more available lately. :)

It's hard even to get a pikelet anymore Elliott, and nobody wants to play Pitch 'n' Toss or Shove 'alfpenny! What are things coming to?

I may have to move to Blighty and begin the slow and laborious process of putting things right. (And I know some chaps that will be just right for giving us a hand with the job. ;))

You'd HATE the weather, but it WOULD be great Elliott! And the pub feels so much warmer when it's cold and wet outside :) :thumbup:

Yes I have recollections of the pubs, vague as those remaining memories may be. I do know a merry time was had by all...and it was quite blustery then. I think I was there in late Winter or early Spring.

That was probably Summer! :D

Don't know if you were in London Elliott, but the North is very different - and we still have better pubs I think! ;)

I'm always willing to broaden my horizons. (London it was...at the Grosvenor House in Mayfair don't you know...The U.S. embassy got that one right, that's for sure.)
