"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

My thoughts are with you and your Grandfather Kevin, hope he makes a full recovery.

Take care brother.

Jack

Prayers and best wishes for your grandfather, Kevin.

Hope he has a full recovery, Kevin. All the best...

Thank you all so much. He has already made a recovery much faster than expected. Nothing was making him smile. I pulled out the knife and it was like a magic moment. I could NOT believe the way he lit up and rubbed over his old knife. I can't describe the entire experience but wow.

Thanks so very much.

He could not believe I still had it and he remembered when he gave it to me.

That is really cool... Sometimes the simplest things can make someone smile. Glad to hear he is doing better

It's great that you were able to cheer him up, Kevin. I'm also glad to hear he is making a speedy recovery. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much guys. What is more awesome is his right side was unable to be used. When I showed him the knife he grabbed it with his right hand. He spoke clearly to me for the first time since the stroke. I could NOT believe it.

Wow that's incredible Kevin, a very moving tale. Hope he makes a full recovery :)

Hi Kevin, I'm glad your Grandfather is doing well. :) I'm very familiar with the effects of suffering a stroke after having lived through one. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. The effects of having a stroke are very hard for other people to understand. In fact, for the most part they don't.

Good to hear that, my friend. I hope everything will turn into good now for your granfather, your family and you of course.

I am glad to see some recovery by your Grandfather, I bet it meant a lot for you to have done that for him. I hope all is smooth sailing from here for you and your family.

Good to year your grandfather is doing well.:thumbup::thumbup:

A stroke is serious, but not as bad as it used to be. Remember, When actor Kirk Douglas had his massive stroke, they said that he would never walk or talk again. Six months later, when the screen actors guild gave him a life time achievement award, he walked onto the stage and personally accepted the award and gave a thank you speech. Yes, he limped badly, yes his speech was slurred, but he was walking upright, moving under his own power, and talking.

Kevin, I hope your grandfather has the same luck. I pray that this time next year, he's walking and talking like he used to.

Carl.

It brought a smile to my face reading your posts Kevin. So glad he is showing improvement so soon. I hope he keeps it up and gets back to his old self. Amazing how the little things can make a big difference :)

Way off topic, There is a Northern red shafted flicker, a rather large one, hanging out in the bush out our backdoor, and he will not let me take a picture of him. I am being patient... hopefully I can get one. Here are a few pics of what one looks like. He has left us many bright orange feathers on our doorstep. Its nice to have him around. Fairly hearty bird to stand the winters in Butte.
