  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I guess this is pretty off-topic.
Who would have thought that 1983 would ever be forty years ago?

The knife is a Utica. The coaster I picked up in an antique mall or shop in Utica.
Fort Schuyler is in Rome. I think it's the fort Henry Fonda runs to in Drums Along The Mohawk. (The book is better.) I could still show you the house the Weavers of that story lived in, in the Village of Remsen City, between Utica and Old Forge.

Untrue!!!

Maybe not with Spam Lite!

I sliced regular Spam, about the size slices Charlie did, and got wavy slices, unlike with my lambsfoot, laguiole, trapper, or Opinel.
Anyway, nice job of slicing thin--I never cut Spam that thin! Maybe I'll try it. I bet the verijero Gaucho knife (like CelloDan CelloDan 's) that I have on order will slice like a champ!

I thought maybe the Lite would be less gelatinous, and I could fry it crispy like bacon. It was not good.
