I'm not sure they were even beans James! 🙄😁

Thanks for the link Jack.
Not only aren't they beans but it may never have been able to promoted said health benefits.
Quoting the Wikipedia article, "Bile Beans was based on a vegetable source known only to Aboriginal Australians... A court case initiated in Scotland in 1905 found that the Bile Bean Manufacturing Company's business was based on a fraud and conducted fraudulently..."
That is most unfortunate. I was hoping to lower my health care cost by informing my insurance carrier of my regular consumption of Bile Beans. ;) Guess I'll have to find another product...humm 🤔 maybe green tea, I've heard alot of good things about that... ;)

That old sign is still there Gary! :D They retouched it a few years ago, which kind of spoiled it a bit I think

I love it, Jack! I'd forgotten the complete message on the sign. We stayed at a hotel right near the Monk Bar. What a great visit we had. My youngest son was on an exchange program between Cornell University and the University of York. We took a family trip to visit him.
Jack, I like the untouched sign better too but the important thing is do their beans still keep you healthy, bright-eyed & slim? Has that been fact-checked and will Bile Beans still have the same health benefits if eaten, let's say... in the morning? ;) ;)
LOL! Beans, beans! Good for the heart ........... Nevermind!

I'm old enough to remember the Carter's commercials. As a kid I wondered why anyone would buy pills that taste like liver! Thanks for the memory, r8shell r8shell !

What a great way to start the day! With a good laugh! 😂

A court case initiated in Scotland in 1905 found that the Bile Bean Manufacturing Company's business was based on a fraud and conducted fraudulently, but Bile Beans continued to be sold until the 1980s nevertheless. (Also from Wikipedia)
And not beans at all.
And not the first patent medicine called beans. Beans must have had a better image in olden times.

I remember you saying Gary, I hope one of the grandkids can get on that program, so you've an excuse to come over again! :D
Love to see it!

I seem to remember there was a bean-eating scene in Blazing Saddles....

I would love it, Jack! Who knows?
Beers are on me! :D
Back to the more important subject of beans, my breakfast today was foul (pronounced ~”fool”), AKA fèves AKA fava beans, mashed and added to sautéed onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños:

Wow Tom, that sounds good, I have the exact same can at the back of my kitchen cupboard. It's now on my kitchen table, so any recipes appreciated! :)
Ya'll made it easy to decide what was for breakfast today, thanks Jack and Gary.

Oops, forgot the mushrooms... oh well there's always tomorrow, Lord willing.
Looks delicious James :)

It was!! Never had beans for breakfast before, didn't know what I was missing.
Learn something new here most days that I tune in, never know what it'll be.
Really? You know, over here, most folks think of baked beans as an American food (in fact we eat more baked beans than the rest of the world put together I think!) :D

Baked beans are big here, just not for breakfast. But beans especially with franks for both lunch and dinner, very common.
They're big at lunch and dinner here too James! :D Sausage, beans, and chips (fries) is practically a national dish! :D
It’s been a favorite in my household for decades. My wife just recently started adding a little curry powder to the mix, which adds an interesting twist to an old standby.
Sounds good Tom, I'll have to experiment :)

Count me in! How about Bangers and Mash at the Maltings? :p:cool:
Makes me want to head for our Favorite Irish pub here in town, Coleman's. Good bangers and mash! Extra Gravy please!
