"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

On Friday, July 5th my wife and I had to say goodbye to our beloved "Smoky" after we confirmed that he was facing a hard road from issues beyond our reach. We loved him too much to let that happen so we let him go while we held him in our arms. I hope you'll find it in your hearts to offer up a silent prayer and smoke for our beautiful boy who gave us 7 1/2 wonderful years.

Thank you for your kindness.

Rest in peace my beautiful boy. Our hearts will never fully mend.

Very, very sad to hear that my friend. I have an idea how much he meant to you both, and it was always great to see him pictured in your posts. May he rest in peace. Treasure the happy memories Elliot.

I feel for you. I have two dogs myself and have had others that went a similar road. A heart-rending decision but the right one.

Sorry for your loss, Elliot. I know that a pet, especially a dog, is like a family member. I hope and your family can keep the good memories about the time together. :(

Elliott, I'm so sorry for your loss. Prayers sent for Smoky.

Elliott,
I'm sorry for your loss. After some awesome pictures of him, he was somehow a member of this forum as well (the picture with the police hat and the "nuthin' to see here, mate" quote always makes me smile). I know you will cherish the memories, and I hope you feel our support in this moment.

My condolences, Elliott. Losing a loved pet is never easy. He may be gone, but based on the way you spoke fondly of him here, I have no doubt that he will be remembered as a great friend and companion. All three of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the good fortune to meet Smoky 3 years ago and saw first hand what a great dog he was. I also experienced a wonderful bond between canine and humans. He could not have had a better home.

Very nice Ken. Great bunch of people here

Our pets, animals in general have a humbling love for us. We could learn much from them, and when they die we lose a true friend. Heavy blow, but the memories are magic!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Elliott. My very sincere condolences. A dog is much more that a pet, or even a member of the family. The bond betwen man and dog is not even fully understood by animal experts. the dog is the only animal that willingly works with us, and I heard one canine expert say the dog is the only animal that can 'read' man.

When you get that once in a lifetime dog, it's a heartbreak to say goodbye.

Carl.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Smoky. Dogs give us so much more than they take. With Smoky in mind the dogs here will be hugged a little tighter today.

So sorry to hear it. He was a beautiful dog and, I'm sure, full of love for you and your family.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. It is comforting during these hard days. I trust that better days are ahead but they will never be quite the same. Thanks again to all of you.
