"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Jack, une personne vous manque et le monde est dépeuplé. You miss one person and the world is depopulated.

I enjoy sitting on my deck drinking coffee and browsing Blade Forums in the morning when the weather is nice rainy mornings require the front porch which is covered. I also use this time for choosing a knife to carry for the day reflection, prayer and making a list of things to accomplish during the day. This is my "me" time and I think everyone should reserve a little time each day for this type of thing. I believe you will find this will become more beneficial to you than you can imagine. Just the two cents of an old retired guy hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sorry to hear of old mate Dougie passing Jack.
The Nice tragedy was brought closer to me with the news of one my mates cousins was there and lucky to be alive.
And even thats too close.

RIP, those lost in Nice! And all who are victims of the cowardice and stupid viciousness that is currently rampant.
Sorry about Dougie, Jack! He had a part in the wonder and enjoyment that you bring to us!!

Thanks for the kind words folks, I hope that everyone has a peaceful and pleasant Sunday :)

My internet connection is still really terrible, so just trying to post this before I get booted off for the umpteenth time :grumpy:

We spend much time on the deck. This weekend was a time to refinish it.

Meako, thanks for the link to the ta... Maori stick. I still haven't relocated the entry in my Stone's Glossary; he must be using a different name for it.

I expect they guard with the flats to spare their edges.

The great moment finally happened!
Two signs bikers friendly : truckstop (= unexpensive good meals) and twisty road ahead!

5KQs, tell us about your fixed blade can of worms. Anything to do with any fb being a proscribed dagger or dirk, except for a hunting knife being carried for that purpose?
Maybe "can of worms" was a misleading figure of speech; sorry. I only meant that I know almost nothing about fixed blades and don't currently have the resources (in time, money, energy) to change that. I've made a deal with myself to concentrate on traditional folders; there's more than enough to learn just in that area to keep me occupied for the relatively short time I have left!

My hands healing still but I was lucky made carry a slip joint a pain as in was my right hand

I hope you're back to 100% ASAP, Tyler.

Good advice, Randy. I can attest that such time is valuable, but for unknown reasons, I'll reserve such time for several months (or even years) and then get out of the habit for long stretches.

I thik that just comes with our age Gary. :D

I've had an old Okay's Key Safe for years and absolutely love it for holding my keys, but have found in the shop it is excellent for holding my new TL29 on a lanyard.
I looked them up and it turns out they're still in business and proudly made here in the states! Definitely recommend!

Took this on my way home; looks like we might get a little weather this evening. (I hope we do; I definitely wouldn't complain about a little rain.)

Great pics guys  That looks like a useful bit of kit Connor

Aww man, I love those old Citroen's!!!!

I was sorry they never got much of a following here in the states, they were such cool funky little car. I settled for a VW bug instead.
This one is a late one with rectangular lights and 6 lights. 650cc under the bonnet. A rich man's car :D :D An Opi on wheels. You can cross quite any ground and drive it full speed () whatever the road.

If replacement parts were easy to find, I'd certainly look for a Citroen like that.
Instead I'm saving for a micro bus, which is my spirit car so to speak. An ugly brown 70s Deville with blown out suspension that flows up and down like the waves on a windy day would also be something very suiting to me :D but that would just be a load of trouble, aka $$$$.
