Prayer/smoke request time: I have loads of friends and family in the path of Hurricane Matthew, which is bearing down on the east coast of Florida. Getting pretty nervous about this one. :( Best of luck to any of you guys in the area, are who also have relations down there. Stay safe!

USPS scanned mine as "out for delivery" yesterday, then 3 hours and 21 minutes later scanned it as "notice left (no secure location available)". That was a lie. I was home with my front door open and you can tell that from the street. Plus no notice was left. There has been no scan since then so I'm wonder if it will even be delivered today.

Sadly, I'll not be surprised to discover the package will actually fit in the mail box. Calls to the local post office just ring busy and the 1-800 number is useless. Ever since we got a new mailman, service has been crap.

I had this Exact scenario happen on Monday of this week. I was working in the garage and saw him pull up and drive away.
 
shame to say some of the fed ex people do that, they just sit in the car and press unable to deliver. had this happen with a few watches. drove me nuts because of the value involved. im on good terms with the usps guy, so my knives tend to be delivered ok

So I drove into town to the main post office for my address. Lady at the pickup window looked for my package in the back then came back waiving two sheets of paper saying it had only arrived at the post office this morning and it was out for delivery. I asked to see that documentation and she refused and walked off and would not discuss the situation anymore. When she realized I wouldn't leave the window she went into the lobby to help customers there. I didn't budge. After about ten minutes another lady came to the window, researched my problem came back and told me the package went out on the wrong delivery truck yesterday and was already out on a truck to be delivered today.


This is straight from the USPS Tracking a few minutes ago, today, 8 Oct 16.

I really hate being lied to. I can accept an honest mistake, but I won't accept being lied to. I opened an investigation. The first lady I dealt with at the pick up window needs to be dealt with.

Sounds like she might be on exchange from auspost.
Just watch for these identifiable traits.
Lying
Never apologising
Acting like shes doing you a huge personal favour simply by doing her job.
Appearing busy and overworked whilst the opposite is true.Although the real time workload is constantly compounded by her lack of effort.
Combat technique: talk to her as though she is a long list friend or rich old aunt. Make inane small talk about the news or weather.The longer the queue grows the higher your chance of her teaching below the counter and handing your parcel over to you.
 
It's interesting to me that while the USPS is a gigantic national bureaucracy, when I talk to people about their satisfaction with the mail service, it all comes back to whether the employees at your local post office are friendly and competent or not. I've been pretty lucky with my local post office, though I've had a few problems with home delivery. A few years ago I got a PO Box for package delivery, and I would recommend it. With online tracking, I know when the item is in the box ready for pick up, and I don't have to worry about it getting stolen off my porch.
 
I have access to several post offices. I have a go to guy who is reliable friendly and helpful.
The mail centre and the po in town are abysmal. Once I tried to post US made knife to the US.bad meako down boy.
The person behind the counter said it was illegal in the US. Without wanting to point the obvious flaws in that statement I insisted she show me where it was written.She produced the fattest binder of regulations ever .As the queue behind me grew longer and more impatient I said look dont worry about it. She'd started and I wasnt getting away without having more of her bs shoved in my face.Eventually the best reason was that knife could not posted because it might come open inside its package ,pierce through and cut someone.
This despite her hardly being able to open it herself.Her mission was to delay as many peoples mail as possible.
The fact is she simply didnt want to sign off on it herself.
I took it to gotoguy.He mailed it and we chatted about knives for a bit.
 
My friends I am requesting thoughts and prayers for my wife Ann. yesterday they scheduled her surgery to have her Aorta replaced November 2nd. This is a major surgery for anyone but particularly hard for a 62 year old woman. I'm a bit worried about her because she is my soul mate whom I love with all my heart.
