"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I'm still trying to digest the greatest Superbowl I've ever watched. Sure my team one, but if any team in the NFL did what the Patriots pulled off last night, I would probably say the same thing. Atlanta has a great team and I believe they'll be a contender again next year. They have a lot of really great players and coaching. I was texting Paul Hilborn all through the game as we always do (made for a fun season Paul  :D), and we both agreed when they were down by 25 points it was going to take a miracle to come back from that deficit. But we also both agreed that if any one team was capable of doing it, it would be the Pats. And get the job done they did!!!
I wasn't feeling well enough to go to my daughters house to watch the game with my grandson and son in law, so I was watching from bed at home. By the fourth quarter I was on the edge of my bed yelling and cheering them on. :D

Agreed Bob, any team that could overcome a 25 point deficit is worthy of being acknowledged. I know all to well the dislike for our team and it seems to be the same dislike any champion at the time recieves, eg: Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers or any championship team in it's respective sport.

Congrats to the Atlanta Falcons a terrific team and organization loaded with class players and personnel👍 with the leadership and youth they have they will be a factor in the future.

Bob, my friend and fellow Patriot fan, what a season😱 it was the highlight of my Sunday afternoon to feverishly text back and forth. Many times I didn't receive the games do to logistics and Bob would almost send play by play updates---THANK YOU MY FRIEND!!! Bob supplied my "Patriot fix"😅 what an enjoyable season with you in it.

Lastnight Bob and I had many fears but as Bob mentioned we had the best dynamic duo in the history of the NFL to fall back on. They delivered like a hollywood film script!!! At one time I text Bob, " Man Bob, I need paddles over here" like lighting I received a text back "send em here when your done"!!!😊

So congrats to the Patriots but even more a very sincere THANK YOU to Bob, my friend and fellow Patriot fan. I told him before his latest surgery and afterwards, the Patriots need you Bob, that was so true for the Patriots and me😉👍

Thanks for your friendship Bob, I am blessed because of it👍

I tend to root for North and East against South and West, just because of where I'm from. (My teams usually lose.)
I also like Tom Brady because he was one of our great quarterbacks (nice to have a spare) during University of Michigan's perfect year (long time ago (, but things are looking up again)).

I checked in at 21-3, gagged, and changed the channel. So I had a pleasant surprise this morning.

Hi All. Not really new around here anymore but first time on the porch. Exchange question: I check the Traditional FS postings 2-3 times a day, but with one exception always get beat to the punch on the most sought-after names, sometimes seemingly being sold within minutes of posting.

Is there some trick here, are some just OCD (not being judgemental here folks:D) over this, or maybe a combination? Does Tapatalk monitor posts for you?

You gotta be quick! Lol.

Many of the old knives are in short supply and they make no more. New ones, especially from gec (there is a lot of love for gec around here) are made in limited numbers. That said, you would be surprised what you can find all over the net. Lots of small business sell them and end up having them long after the big names sell out.

There are two ways here though that can increase your odds. 1) is to post in the want to buy section. I have had hits on every post I have put there. Not always exactly what I want but hits nonetheless. And 2) yes Tapatalk will send notifications on new threads in subscribed forums. I am not sure how to set it up as I don't use it but I know it will cause I've had to turn it off before. Haha

Well, I am not much into football (hockey fan here), but I watch the Super Bowl every year and I have to agree with BigBiscuit. That certainly is one of the best games I've seen. Thought for sure the Patriots were down for the count, Atlanta was playing so sharp. Well, something happened, I don't know what, but that was one heck of a 4th quarter. Though I wasn't rooting for one team over the other really, the Patriots proved why they are considered to be one of the best teams in the league. That was quite the comeback, a well deserved win. Congrats to all Patriot fans here.

Falcons made some terrible offensive calls. One of the worst choke jobs in sports history. I didn't really care and was completely disappointed in the commercials. On a bright note, Im happy for my friends here who's team won.

I woukd have enjoyed watching the game with you guys. Especially seeing Bob's and Paul's emotinal timeline. Im sure it was a roller coaster.

My heart felt apologies to Gasman1

Lol. I'm better now. It's the same ol story my friend, it usually ends alot sooner in the season than this. At least we are the best team in the NFC this year. ;)

What a day! :grumpy: Locked myself out of the house due to a faulty lock, hurt my shoulder and bent my door-key trying to get back in. My mate, who keeps my spare key was unable to leave his house due to multiple children with a vomiting bug. Meanwhile, I'm standing outside in a T-shirt. Finally managed to get a taxi, pick up keys, and get back into my house. Painkillers and a cuppa now!

Sorry to hear your locked out story, Jack. Good thing you didn't run outside in your bathrobe!
It did prompt me to text my wife, who is out shopping, to get some graphite lubricant for our sticky service door lock.

Oh Man Jack, I've had days very similar to that, remember to Ice that shoulder as well, the inflammation is a killer:(

Here's to your Luck turning around:thumbup:

Oh man! That is not a good day. I think you had better stay inside the rest of the day Jack. ;)

Thanks Paul, and thanks for the tip, I am definitely feeling a bit decrepit these days!

That's exactly what I'm going to do Alan! :D Mind you, it's evening here now. When I got home late last night, the rain was absolutely bouncing outside, and I was already half-soaked, so it's a good job I didn't get locked out then!

Sorry to hear about your day, Jack, but I'm glad things worked out. I'm younger than a lot of people here (50), but my body is letting me know I don't recover like I used to. Started a new job this week that has me up and away from my desk a lot now and moving equipment, so my body is wondering what the heck I'm doing to it. Additionally, Arkansas has a tendency to cycle through four seasons in a week this time of year wreaking havoc on joints abused by sports, SAR, and the Army.

Anyone have any Geritol I can borrow?
