"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Will, I was having the same troubles on Imgur. I think I've got it figured out. When you log onto your Imgur library, just above the thumbnail pics, click the drop down labeled View Image info. Select Edit images. Then click on the thumbnail images you want to edit, ten again just above the thumbnails click the edit button. They will come up one at a time so you can edit color, brightness, size or whatever you want. overlayed on the image in the top right will be a size edit selection. I've been resizing to 1600 X 1200 for landscape image format and 1200 X 1600 for portrait format. After changing the size, click apply, and then up top click Save. And you're done resizing and it will go to the next image you selected to edit.

I was just going to post on this. In addition to what Bob posted, when you click on the thumb nail and go to the individual image, you'll see a selection for sizes on the bottom right. Select the size you need and the image will be resized for that selection. I Leave it on original size. I take most pics with a Samsung S7 (great camera) and export them via Dropbox to my PC. They're pretty big files, but it all seems to work out OK. I'm no expert at it though.

I guess we're all having problems. I lost my old 71 Bullnose. My only gec. Just figured some of you could feel my pain. :(

Thanks everybody for the help. Just need to find some quiet time to test it all out but the job seems to be demanding more or rather, I'm ageing ! Another birthday recently went by:eek:

Paul I was thinking of you the other day because I was ogling through my knife collection wiping and oiling and I found a little Case blue pocket hunter. The same as one that I sent to your place.I cant for the life of me remember you saying whether it arrived or not. ?? On to more important matters...just watch out the little fingers and thumbs on the edge of the tape measure. They can cut.Sounds like a good time to introduce the concept of counting.:)

Hey Jon,

It did indeed arrive! I'm sorry my friend, that was quite a few months ago and if I didn't let you know I can only apologise. 2016 was a very difficult year for us here.

Small and sharp, what more does one need?

I dread going to Pbucket to post older pics anymore. It is either not working or it loads super slow. I won't even try to edit photos through the website anymore, as it frequently causes my browser to crash. I cringe when I see other people recommend it to folks who are new to posting pics here.

I'm frequently on different car based forums as well as more than a few firearm and gunsmithing forums. I used to use Photobucket to host my pictures, but after multiple problems, I switched to Postimage.org to host them. Much faster loading and less frustration. I'm slowly in the process of copying the old pictures to the new host, while keeping the old ones in place due to the sheer number of posts with pictures I've made over the years.

I tried imigur, but found myself lost when trying to figure things out, and frustrated enough to go elsewhere.

And now for a completely different type of folding pattern.... Yesterday I watched Nova's The Origami Revolution episode.

I think folks here would enjoy it. Beautiful art, amazing engineering, fascinating science. So much more than the origami I learned about in grade school.

It's still snowing but I figured I better give it some attention this morning.

Edited out license plate. Call me paranoid!
Too late. The drone strike is inbound. We are able to triangulate based on the particular layout of the trees and shrubs and link that to Google Earth's satellite pictures.

Whoa! That is some now! Looks like you got the machine for it?

We were supposed to get between 4" and 6 feet! If you believe the hysteria on tv news? We got about 2".

I do remember living just south of Buffalo and getting just crazy snow.

Curses, foiled again!

We had some 3' drifts. I think officially it was 26". It's still snowing too. I'll be back at it tomorrow morning I'm sure.

Before I retired I contracted with a snow plowing company to keep the driveway clean. Now that I have the time, I do it with the snow blower.

I lived in Niagara Falls years ago and we got some huge snow accumulations.

We got 8" then rain then temps dropped to 20, so now the white concrete will probably be here to Memorial Day.

Understood. I grew up in Olean, about 60 miles South of Buffalo/Niagara. When Buffalo got 3' we got 4' it seems like anyway. That was a long time ago. We were in what has been called the Snow Belt.

Now, in Annapolis, we get dire forecasts but rare actual storms. The exception being Hurricanes that come up the Chesapeake. They can be difficult even if they don't really hit us.

I wish you the best with the snow. Keep that blower going!!!!

I have NEVER been in Snow - well as a wee child in a very minor bit - but Gary!! oh My Lordy!!!! Is that still " How do I get to work" conditions or are you stuck indoors?
Paul talks often of a Snow Plough machine .....?

People who have Snow will laugh- we here in New Zealand get Sunburnt at Christmas time so please keep that in mind :o

I always admire and envy your knives, Gary, but I don't envy your snow depth in mid-March at all!!:(
Good luck with the snow removal!:thumbup:

It was a pretty good snow for us, although I've seen a lot more. All the schools were closed and it was slow going on the roads. I'm retired, so I didn't have to go anywhere. Both my sons ended up at their respective homes for the day, but my DIL, who is an attorney and a law clerk for a federal judge, had to make her way to our federal building. They did close up early though.

We got snow from the storm that came up the coast. After that the lake effect snow machine kicked in. Most of our snow, in an average year, is lake effect off Lake Ontario.
I could have bought a couple of custom knives for the price of that snow blower! It's much better then having to shovel it though. :D

Mason Dixon knife show is in Hagerstown this April...

I live up on the state line, Annapolis and the Mason Dixon line , PA portion, might as well be VA and PA as far as Baltimore meteoroligists are concerned.

I moved from Buffalo years ago, and do not miss the snow! My brother puts a lot of miles on his snowblower!
But I'd rather deal with snow than with Photobucket!
And like a previous poster, I am stuck! There are thousands of photos on "Elusive Schrades", "What Makes a Good Traditional Barlow", etc, etc. That would all disappear if I abandon ship!!
Aaarrrggghhhh!!

Could you not just keep your Photobucket account active and just not continue to use it to host future images? It will continue to host images that you have dispersed abroad. But for future use, you can use a new hosting site without impacting your images that Photobucket is currently hosting.

I hope that makes sense.
