I thought some of you might find this photo funny - what a pair of posers! :D

A couple of months ago, we were driving round Derbyshire, and stopped at this popular beauty spot Monsal Head. I was walking across the car-park when I saw a young woman, wandering around 'trout-pouting' at her camera-phone, and taking photographs of herself. Shortly after, her (presumed) boyfriend walked over doing the same, neither of them spoke to each other, nor did they photograph each other, or either look at or photograph the view. They just took photo after photo after photo of THEMSELVES, with no apparent awareness of everybody else laughing at how stupid and narcissistic they looked. We left after about 20 minutes, and they were still doing it when we left!

Ha! Thanks for the wonderful laugh Jack Black Jack Black , made my morning. They are wasting such a pretty view and spoiling it for the others, I must say... I have friends who engage in this unfortunate behavior all the time.... I let them appreciate their own self perceived good looks and I go off on my own to find views that are far more interesting. Like the one below that I captured on one of my recent hikes.

That's a fantastic pic my friend :)

Thanks Jack! I take no credit for the scenery, it more than makes up for my mediocre photography skills. That is one of many shots I was able to get on a spectacular multi day hiking trip in one of my favorite haunts.

You're very modest my friend, that's beautiful hiking country :)

That made me laugh out loud Henry!! :D  They were far too interested in their camera phones  ;)

Those two taking selfies should have been taking some interesting photos; such as photos of their knives. ;)

I took a selfy of me looking at the offending selfie post just to commemorate the occasion. Kaaah so annoying.
Is my beard in the pic? wait the lights wrong ..no . I .... just gotta ... get the background ... my beard, my beard isn't fully in the pic
heres a better one -
I call it "Is that a python in your pocket or are you just glad to see me? Errr it's a python."

Fail. Just another narcissistic selfie with no knife pictures. Sick. The only normal and healthy pictures are pictures of knives.

Can't you imagine Jack taking a picture of a knife perched on the ledge of the rocks? "Oh Jack what a great photo of that lambsfoot." Meanwhile others at the scene utter under their breaths, "Look at that strange man taking photos of that old knife on the rocks."

My boys about to embark on a 3 night hike with Scouts this Queens Birthday long weekend.

Normally i'd be going too but need to go to Sydney to a trendy art exhibition opening featuring a mate of mines amazing paintings of burning forests.
Also catching up with one of my oldest mates who is recovering from a massive throat cancer op. Hes my age- we joined the fire brigade together in 1985.

This is indeed an amusing picture to me, and it reminded me of my visit to my daughter in Spain at the start of 2015 when I first witnessed the use of selfie-sticks! :p I found endless amusement in that! But Jack's post seemed a weird but wonderful one-off; little did I realize the hilarity that would ensue thanks to the good humor on The Porch!:cool:

...
That made me laugh out loud Henry!! :D  They were far too interested in their camera phones  ;)
I missed HB's meaning when I read his post, but when Jack wrote of LOL, I suddenly got it (Sometimes you forget certain things as you get older :rolleyes:)! LOL, indeed! Good one, and droll too, Henry Beige!!:D

Vinifera rightly pointed out that judging human behavior is quite subjective, and he did it in a manner that I found humorously sarcastic!;)

Yeah. Sick freaks.
Jer jumps right into the spirit of things!:p

Vinifera realizes there are geezers like me around that sometimes need things spelled out quite explicitly, so he does that job very well. More entertaining absurdity of life stuff! Love it!! :D:D

Who'd a thunk that I'd get such cheering up from a shot of a couple of kids who (over-)enjoy taking selfies?!?:cool:;) Thanks for making my Friday, everybody!

Theatre? Art? What's going on mate, you'll be eating peas, sorry petit-pois, off the back off your fork next?! :D ;)

I have never taken a selfie. There are no digital photographs of me at all other than the one taken by the state for my driver's license and my employer's ID badge.

That is ironically funny. V Vinifera That scene goes through my head every time I step out to take a photo of a knife.
Me: "Let's see; sun behind me, check, Focus, check, etc."
My Neighbor: "Look, he's doing it again"
Neighbor's wife "Doing what?"
Neighbor "He's down on his knees taking a picture of a knife again"
Neighbor's wife "I told you, there's something wrong with that man. Call the police"

Well, I am of western European ancestry and what hair i have left is turning gray, so perhaps not too far off.

The avatar image is my cat, Daisy. Not a great pic of her but it is what I had.

He's down on his knees taking a picture of a knife again
My wife used to also make fun of me for doing this.
