"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Our 4 cats share the same two human servants.
My wife claims that we feed the top of the food chain.

Without going into a very long story, with quite some effort and expense (vet care) she became the 4th indoor cat we have.
The lady cat that I mentioned is also our number 4. She began coming around after admiring our number 3 in the window.

Once she came indoors, he taught her civility and feline politics in about a week. She teaches him that she can kick his butt at any time (but chooses not to), whenever he lacks civility.

Similarly, the white cat in my avatar appeared during the "polar vortex" in November 2014 outside of our door. Without going into a very long story, with quite some effort and expense (vet care) she became the 4th indoor cat we have. It took quite a while of slow adjustment, addressing health issues, and building trust, but she is now a very sweet and affectionate cat and is also quite appreciative of her life of luxury, leisure, food, care, and attention.

Yes - the ownership relationship goes the opposite direction. We don't have 4 pet cats. Our 4 cats share the same two human servants.

:D:D:D:D:D But, they usually treat the servants quite well in an 'Upstairs Downstairs' sort of way:cool: I blame the Ancient Egyptians, they made cats into gods - we've never recovered:)

As a teenager, I lived in a run-down old house in a run-down old area. There were three cats who had been there up to ten years. They dined on the numerous mice and other rodents, small birds, and leftover scraps. An old lady up the road, fed them some posh 'cat food' one day. We never saw the cats again!

My theory has been that the Egyptians were the group that realized that cats kept critters out of the grain storage, allowing large groups of people to live close together. This also allowed the art of brewing to arise (according to the Rosetta stone the only recipe worth keeping). Feline deification (or demonization, according to Poe) often results after three or more pints. A natural progression.

Reminds me of the old cartoon Deputy Dawg.
The villain if the piece was Musky the Muskrat:D if memory serves.

I agree with Meako- randy keep going brother - can do without you mate!

Jake- Oh mate...I know that so well- here's hoping that you get good news my friend - What a lovely life you have given her!

I lost my pup back in August. Got him from my cousin, she had adopted a min pin from her local shelter and turned out the thing was pregnant with what the vet said to be a litter of four. It gave birth to four pups a few weeks later during the night and they saw all four Caleb out fine. Woke up the next mourning and there were three more laying there that looked like a different breed. My dog Copper, was one of the last three. I think he was a min pin border collie mix. I think the worst part about his death was he was only a year old.

That absolutely sucks.. I hope your bloodhound somehow comes through whatever is ailing her. It's always a tough loss when you lose a dog - member of the family. I'll alert my dogs on the other side to be on the lookout for her should she pass- they'll take care of her. You didn't give her name. I'll have her in my thoughts when I go to bed tonight. Will you be able to put her to rest at your home?

Best wishes for the pup, supratentorial. Good on you for giving her a second chance and a good life....

Thank you all for the good wishes and support. Red passed away on Friday. She was 2 years older than the life expectancy for her breed and had cancer and a disease affecting the motor nerves. She was a tough girl and fought it but this last month was really rough even though she was kept comfortable with pain medication. She is at peace now. I will miss her.

I say...

Better than being in the Dog House:D:D

I can't find any pix or vids of the Pussycat Dolls that might not bring down the Hammer of Moderation;);) just sayin'

That would deserve moderation based on taste in music. ;) I don't envy the moderators job. I was asked to join the moderators years ago and was honored but declined. Its not easy.

I'm sorry for your loss, Jake. Sounds like each of you made life better for the other!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
You'll miss her, but I'm sure you've got plenty of good memories to help you through.

Sorry to hear about Red, Jake. I don't have a dog right now and I miss that. My wife and I have the opportunity to travel now and feel that having a canine companion may not be fair to him or her. We do have two grand dogs though that we see quite often. I often think of those that I've lost and remember how devoted they were and how much happiness they bring.

Sad that your dog has had to go Jake, but suffering isn't right either. The fact that you miss her is a tribute to the magic between animals & man.
