…...the S&W Mountain gun in 44 mag.....
Let's make a deal. If you ever find one that you pass on you let me know about it, and I'll do the same for you. I've got one and I'd really like to have a spare. Great revolver.
Woah! I Coogle-foo’d this model and then found a few on GunBroker just to discover that it’s up there in asking price!
Will do!Let's make a deal. If you ever find one that you pass on you let me know about it, and I'll do the same for you. I've got one and I'd really like to have a spare. Great revolver.
It’ll stay on the want list with the S&W Mountain gun in 44 mag until funds arise or I find someone willing to trade for something else I can live without.

Welp, can an old dog learn any new tricks? Apparently so if their truncated name rhymes with shatty!
Picked up my new tactical Benelli SuperNova and ordered some extra parts for it to make it TactiCool; received the parts (magazine extension, pica tinny rail integrated with 6 shell holders, barrel clamp to add flashlights) and was like a pig rolling in shyte
Take out my tools and hit the YT instructional and such and then I bother to read the comments was I often find some brain*rts as very amusing! Then one guy shouts: "Hey buddy, did you know that you have made yourself an illegal shotgun?" and then, the whole thread breaks loose with the anti-gov stuff which is NOT the objective of my post here! This is in case you, like me, didn't know kinda stuff:
Low and behold I come across an ATF rule 922r (this is Federal and not just CA or any other more gun restrictive) which basically means that short of being the actual importer (note my Benelli is an import and this does not apply to say Remington) or a bona-fide tester for the purpose of testing, you can not have a "modified" rifle or shotgun (doesn't apply to any handgun and hence as to why some longer guns come with a goofy handgun version!) with more than 10 imported parts! If you have more than 10 imported parts on your long gun (most have well over 10, maybe 13-18 by most counts) and want to mod it, you must replace parts with U.S. MADE PARTS TO COMPLY. YAY?!
Now the ATF site is not super anal and some parts are generalized or else if you take the darn thing apart, there will be a subset of like 200 parts, LOL! In my case per ATF, the Benelli SuperNova comprises of 13 imported parts so in order to go TactiCool, I must change 3 parts with U.S. made parts. I am sending all this shyte back and will revise this thing in future but I have done some snooping around and in my case, the U.S. made stock a replacement follower and say either trigger or hammer (upgrade to the Benelli M4 parts) will taker care of this issue.
Again, no politics please just PSA but I'm sure that most of you gun-vets would've already known anyway but pardon me as I'm a noob!
not a fan of this. had to alter my baby.
You mean like one of these? Have a 657 and 629 Mountain Gun......been thinking about letting go of the 629....

When I replied I was confident I had altered my Benelli... now that I think more about It I had planned on doing mod for months but the 922r made me look for a way to not have to worry about it. I think I got the 11715 model so I got everything I wanted already on the shotgun. Sorry about my confusion. I hope it turns out awesome,I've already decided on a Mesa Tactical pistolgrip stock with a cheek-riser as mod #1. This U.S. made stock will give me a better LoP as the factory 14.75" (my stock is already factory with PG) is way too long for me specially if not wearing much heavy clothing! No. 2 mod will be the follower. I'm just waiting to get confirmation that the new Mesa Tactical low drag follower will indeed fit a SuperNova because the feedback is mixed as I think that there was an older one that sone still carry which will not fit. The 3rd one, I will have to think a bit about before I go for the TactiCool magazine extension. These other two which I have mentioned are benign and really don't do anything to intimidate anyone but that extension + bells and whistles will draw attention at the range. Eventually like I had said, trigger and hammer or vice versa and I'll be golden![]()
Yeah, that's why I mentioned being aware of 922r compliance with upgrading Benellis in post #344 (applies to any/all imported firearms).Welp, can an old dog learn any new tricks? Apparently so if their truncated name rhymes with shatty!

While I haven't heard of anyone actually getting jammed up for it, it would be a really silly thing to get jammed up over.
The Ruger LCR22 can do the job, just not nearly as pretty when doing so- but it does come in way cheaper.
I’ve used a Colt Woodsman, Match Target, with a 4 inch barrel, then moved on to a Walther P22 ( cool gun, but kinda junk ), then on to a Ruger 22/45 Lite when I bought my Dead Air Mask, and have since settled on a S&W M&P 22 Compact. The S&W is just about perfect for not being a revolver. It’s accurate, reliable, mags are cheap, and my suppressor pairs with it perfectly.
I still have the itch for a nice TRUE to form “kit gun”, a revolver, but like you pointed out- they’re not inexpensive. It’ll stay on the want list with the S&W Mountain gun in 44 mag until funds arise or I find someone willing to trade for something else I can live without.
Thanks for the positive comments all, sorry it took me a bit to get back to this thread.
I'm with you 100%, there are a ton of great modern options that are light weight. I have a VQ tuned 22/45 Airweight that could have used for this rig but with mag and ammo it is still over 20oz (22 IIRC). After sorting through all of my "way too many" 22 options nothing came close to the 12.4 oz weight of this one other than my snub nose 43c which is just a touch lighter.
This spring I am planning to teach my daughter to shoot. She already has a Ruger Bearcat Shopkeeper that was a limited edition I bought a week after she was born and a Grade III Browning BL-22 in maple that have been in the safe waiting their time. I figured between the Bearcat and this S&W they are the perfect starters. Of course she'll have a cool holster to rock it in
Tinfoil Hat Timmy, sorry brother, this one was bought specifically for this project. They do pop up used from time to time for less, but as S&W's revolvers go they are always a bit of a premium. Good luck!
Well it seems that you have your little Miss all set up with some very nice gear, nicely done Sir.
My little Lady is 6, she just started shooting a bit this last summer and seems to like it- I hope that it stays that way.
My boys are 9 & 12, they’ve both been shooting since they were 6/7 and love the 22’s for plinking, especially with the suppressor because it’s video game cool to them. I like it because it’s easier for them to understand the lessons that come with a day out plinking or hunting small game.
There are many reasons that the little .22 has stood the test of time, and I’m a fan.
M67 That little Charger is gorgeous!
We sound like kindred spirits. My daughter turned six in October, but runs on a constant high from her birthday until New Year because of all of the holidays and activity. We opted to hold off until spring, but she's excited to learn. I was an avid SASS shooter and hit 3-4 matches per month before she was born. I stopped doing them when she was born, but still have all of my gear in duplicate and plan to get her to some matches soon, competing later
Plenty of proof that kids who learn early grow up with a healthy respect for firearms and a love for both shooting sports and the Second Amendment, kudos for teaching it to your youngsters.
