Carothers and Guns

if you want another CZ in 9mm to compliment the two you have ... this Shadow 2 shoots as good as some customs I've had ...

Sadly I think that the Shadow 2 is not on our DOJ’s roster as an approved handgun :( The SP-01 is the one which may have to pacify my 3 size trifecta desire :)

BYW luv that Shadow 2  Gorgeous

I forgot you were Cali. for a minute ... I love my SP-01 too ... I was always a .45 guy only had a couple compact 9s for summer carry. I still prefer my .45s but I have found some 9s that I enjoy in more recent years. That whole list thing would throw me for a loop. Good luck!

Seems like you went full-on CGW Pro-Pack on your P0-1 with VZ grips and then some

The more that I thought about my recent brain f*rt, i.e, adding an SP-01 to my CZ litter may not offer me the best BANG ( ;) ) for the buck because I will most likely Cajunize it so might as well just wait and see how my own plans develop vis a vis a potential out of state move. In the meantime, I will mess around with something else in full-size, may be :D

Yup, best to wait till if / when I move to a no roster restriction state for a Shadow 2. In the meantime, I may just mess around with a 45 type of something and if it doesn’t grow on me, well meh!

You've said .45 twice in the last two pages, so it sounds like it may be time to revisit the 1911 again :D. Just get one with a rail if you go that route so you have the option of hanging a light off of it.

Well that would suit my stupidity of buying a gun for my light but to put a light in a 1911 would be akin to putting a saddle on my German Shepherd :D

I really need to have a serious talk with myself in private, LOL.

This was a basic 1992 Springfield Armory 1911-A1 with parkerized finish. I had it customized by a local pistol smith, and had the frame hard chromed and the slide deep blued OG style. It has a Bar-Sto barrel. It use to have a sub 3 pound trigger, and a drop in beaver tail. However, I changed it back to a 4 pound trigger, and the original hammer and grip safety. I didn’t like how the drop in beaver tail looked, and the trigger was just too light in case I wanted to use it for defense.

All this cz talk is going to have me in the shop again too soon... Actually walked in Friday to grab a p10f but walked out with this guy.

Before I went on my current CZ fanboy trip, I had actually walked into the gunshop to buy an HK P2000SK but as a pocketbook conscious shopper, I had noticed that their prices were way off on that HK (again remember that this is Cali and we have a much more limited roster option). Generally I like to buy locally but in these price ranges, for harder to find pistols, my max pay-on-top price is $100. I always price check with online stores like Buds (I would not buy from, but just for reference) figure to add a minimum $50 FFL fee and then another $50 for the luxury of touchy-feely before committing. Another thing with HK, they can be a little proprietary in terms of add-ons, so I went the CZ route. Rightly or wrongly, I'm into DA/SA because I believe that if you can get as good as can on the DA, you can become a very good shooter with almost anything.

Oh and I really like that VP9 although being on a striker fire platform :)

Gus, I bought myself a Wheeler digital trigger pull gauge and although I am not that good yet at using it properly, I measured the SA trigger pull on my S&W 686 SSR in the low to mid 2s which scares the cr*p outta me for being so light, but of course under normal circumstances it's a DA with a pull of around 10 pounds .

You did the right and the conscious thing my Man with going for 4 lb. with a SA 1911

Buds is local and I still don't frequent them :) did pick up a Tx22 from them last week. Only because no one else in town had it in stock during this most recent panic buying spree. Probably got the most unenthusiastic clerk I've ever come acroas. Good thing is the pistol is absolutely fantastic and eats every crap ammo I put in it.

I'll end up grabbing a cz in the next week or two, I'm sure. I just didn't care for the grip on the p10f and I went in for a striker fire. The shadow or the p09 will probably be next up as I clear out some lesser used pieces.

Dave, the rubber CZ grips are CRAP! The higher end ones with the aluminum grips are good/cool but most CZ guys with the lower end CZs go with LOK grips, some with VZ and then there's another maker named Cool Hand something...
