If & when you get your O/R Shadow 2, please feel free to throw me a bone too via PM'ing me
I also see a Beretta / Benelli M4 shotty in some form of my future's future![]()
I've had an Olight PL2 switch malfunction (would turn on only when it felt like it), and their CS is crap. I won't trust their weaponlights anymore. The new Olight Baldr RL flashlight/laser combo which I just received does fit my compact CZ 75 P-01, even though it sticks out too much. It's good enough though as I'm relieved that I won't have to buy a full size for now!
I don't know how good these OLlights are and with the whole thing about being made in China by a Chinese enterprise and so on, but I could not afford to lay out the cash for similar made by say SureFire:

I also prefer Surefire's switch mechanism (push forward for momentary, push down or up for constant), vs Olight's click for constant and hold and release for momentary, or Streamlight's push one way for constant, the other way for momentary (it's a rotating switch, which means push up for momentary, and down for constant on the right side, but it's the opposite on the left side).
^ thanks fellas, I'm new to weapon lights but the input is great to know. I don't expect to be using these weapon lights for anything other than maybe practice if & when the world opens up but point well taken and should I ever end up living in the sticks with the nearest sheriff being miles and miles away, I will be sure to look for a system which I can absolutely rely on.
Given your parameters and CA's restrictions, I'd say the Springfield M1A Scout fits the bill perfectly.Been going back and forth a lot lately, specially with plenty of time on my hands to fantasize for spending my $, which I really should not!
After a looong period of lull with the gun hobby, as some know, I've been mind-wanting going back and forth with some harebrained ideas but now I think that I've pretty much dialed into what I want to look at to purchase but wanted to ask if anyone or someone in here has pros and cons. I think that with my current collection, I have most of the bases covered but for lack of a rifle. Please realize that my current thoughts are purely based on the striations and limitations with owning certain guns and capacities and set up in the state of CA. So the idea is best-bang-for the-buck combined with pragmatism. What do I want it for? To complete my so-called current collection. That is it for now, i.e, a rifle!
To get an AR set up here in Cali, you gotta go through some hoops. Contrary to popular belief, they are not illegal but lots of "bloatware" will have to be thrown in, if you wanna pick one off the shelf and then get around the various legislations regarding ARs. Cut a long story looonger, I prefer something that I do not need to mess with gunsmithing and things, getting into uppers, lowers, that kinda BS and things which I know nothing about. In closing, I prefer the AR-10 platform to the AR-15 platform anyway, because I'm an older f*rt and also I prefer 308/7.62 NATO.
So, I am now considering the bolt action scout rifles because heck we have a 10 mag capacity limit anyway so if I ever move anywhere else which is less restrictive, I can always look into a Sig AR platform or something higher end with the bells and whistles which we can not get here in CA anyway. The Springfield Armory M1A Scout with a midrange Leupold scope, no fuss no muss, will put me in the low to mid $2Ks. The Tikka T3x PCR was also another possibility but I will have to pay MSRP (although much lower than the Springfield one) and it also has a longer barrel length. There are also other Scout rifles by other manufacturers for less than the M1A. I'm in no rush and can afford to wait till this current craziness dies down to get a "deal" as these are not popular with our younger crowd anyway!
What sayz you?
