Carothers and Guns

Just to add to the above, I love OWB leather holsters for my handguns. Having good friends in here who are also great leather craftsmen for knives, has left me wanting and yearning when it comes to leather for guns (I know of DeSantis, Azula and some others).

I've got a D.M. Bullard 'dual carry' for OWB that I really like. It's made to carry IWB or OWB (reversible clips) but, for me, it shines OWB.

The cz got me. Ended up with a different one. Full cajun, custom stipple, dawson sights, 3 mags, and a custom holster. Good weekend!

Have you had any or enough chances to try it out during the pandemic restrictions to see if you really like/luv that PC10? If so, how do you compare it to your HK VP9?

Sadly that gun is not CA legal for me to try one out and although I don’t have any horses in the striker fire races, at the expense of maybe upsetting Glock fans, I’ve read that the CZ PC10 is what the G17/19 should’ve been (better: ergos, aesthetics, balance, trigger, sights) before it was even cajunized. Count me quite jelly :)

Did end up firing about 100 rounds each for that p09, the vp9, and the p10f(friend found one on sale so went out to shoot). Due to a serious lack of ammo right now I didn't get what I feel is a complete picture of each yet. My quick take aways:

Cz p09, cajunized- best trigger of them all by a long shot. Even in double action the pull is steady and smooth. Single action is on par with a great 1911. Love it. Very accurate! It does have those dawson sights so it helped a lot with quick pick ups. Ergos are good but not perfect for my hands. I feel like it needs more palm swell, but it's not bad by any means. The slide release is a little far forward to avoid repositioning as well. Overall a really solid piece. I'd buy another.

Vp9 - best ergos, hands down, full stop. It's an absolute joy to hold for me. Pretty dang accurate as well. Needs new sights! The stock ones aren't terrible but they're a little wide and I'm used to fiber. The recoil spring is tight... Very heavy(makes sense, they use the same one for the vp40). Right now it cycles best on 124gr(break in), which makes recoil harder to assess objectively. The trigger is a fantastic example of striker fire factory goodness. Right around 5.5lbs and super crisp with very little over travel. I have a new 18lb recoil spring, lazy wolf trigger, sights, and a few other goodies due in this week. That should make for a very close race.

P10f(full size) - hate the ergos. Slad sided and just doesn't fit ME. Even with talon rubber grips I don't like it. The trigger is very good. Not as clean as the vp9, but you're talking a pretty big price jump. You could have a near full custom cajun for the same price as a bone stock Vp9. I do like it more than my glocks! It aims better, and as much as I dislike the ergos they work from a point and shoot standpoint. It just naturally aims better for me. Factory night sights are solid as well. I've pulled it from my personal must own list for now. It's a very good contender to replace a glock I just wish it felt more comfortable in my hand.

I think once the vp9 gets a few tweaks it should be a fair and even fight between the p09 and it. May even come down to a hammer vs Striker battle. If it was only ergos I'd take the vp9, that much I can say. If I had to chose right now with no mods I'd probably take the cajun p09... Good news is I don't have to pick :) I have 2k rounds due in today so I should be able to really put them through the paces this weekend for a better picture. I'll let you know!

Apologies for erroneously mistaking your P09 for a P10! Still glad that you managed to get your hands on a P10 as it happened to write a solid review, even with the sign of times limitations. Thank you.

They all start to look the same after a minute!

If you have medium or even small hands the p10c/f would probably be fantastic. I wouldn't rule them out. They feel slimmer as well so maybe a good option for ccw. I just need that extra girth to make a pistol feel good in my hand ;)

Thanks for that write up, I've always wanted a vp9, love my p10c... my m&p 2.0 is probably my favorite though. I was interested in the P10sc over the P10f though. You make me want to look back in to the VP9 now.

Nice set! Quality holster as well. Milt Sparks is one of the best out there

I looked into the models which I texted you about. Local gun stores have literally been ransacked in the COVID pandemonium so I will now bid my time. If the sky doesn't fall, I expect to see some of those first time buyers who purchased heavy calibers ending up consigned back to the retailer. Maybe there will be some great deals on unfired & only fondled handguns. For now, I think that I will just buy some more ammo and magazines whenever I can.
