Case Tony Bose Collabs pic and discussion thread.

The 2001 Yukon Hunter finally arrived. The shape is unusual, which was intriguing to me. I’ve never seen anything similar in shape, so no telling how Tony thought this up, but it actually is very comfortable in hand, very comfortable. The edge profile foreshadows the Zulu/Tribal edge profile. The pull is very nice, just right. Wish the pull on all of my folders was as nice.

Dennis,

for your chart, there is no half stop.

It is large, but thin. The edge is razor sharp out of the box. The covers are “Autumn Bone,” which must be the fancy marketing words for Halloween pumpkin color. 😊

Here it is next to a Case Bose Bullnose for scale.

eta - blade markings for future reference.

I find it a bit odd that Tony never did a Congress pattern. Tony was all about bringing old patterns back to life….it’s great he did many of these older, more uncommon patterns like the Eureka, Yukon, Coffin, Norfolk, etc.

Just wish he did a Congress pattern as it’s one of my favorites and was a very popular and historically significant pattern .

Who knows. Maybe it was in the works.

Found a nice Wilfred Lockback Hunter, the 2016 Case Bose collaboration offering.

Case did a really nice job with the chestnut color on this one.

This model is surprisingly thin and light. This might be a close runner-up favorite to my Bullnose Trapper.

There is no half stop on this one, but it is not needed. The locking mechanism is well fitted with a nice “snick” as it goes into place.

Similar in size to the Bullnose? It’s a beautiful knife!

Thank you. Yes sir, very similar in size, but thinner and lighter. My Bullnose is on the left and the Wilfred is on the right. The bright sun light really shows the true color too.

Wow that photo really captures how outstanding the jigging can get on those covers! I also tend to prefer smaller knives but there's something to be said about having a larger canvas to appreciate.

Nothing like getting a lot of these beauties like jeffbird; I was able to score several thanks to the great folks here on BF.
Wilfred continues to impress me daily. Indoors at 6:15 under an led bulb. And with my ebony WT, both always right on the desk, my comfort knives

Interesting that the Collab will continue under a new hand. Excited to see what Ruple will come up with, something new I hope, he did work with Queen a couple of decades back.

I'd like to see a revival of CASE's Large Penknife for instance.

In the meantime, the Norfolk remains a fine single-spring 2 blades

It’ll be interested to see what Bill has planned. Been a fan of his single blade trappers and cattle knives I’ve seen online. I remember the sowbelly he did with Queen, and recently the single blade trapper with Moki knives. I like Will’s idea of a large pen knife. Bill does make a nice canoe which could also make for an interesting Case collaboration.

I think you answered the question as to why they didn't produce a congress collab. Case was probably more interested in producing knives that were "uncommon", especially if they already produced the knife in regular production. Also, the Congress pattern that Tony made at WilfredWorks required some kinky crinking and the collabs are more tricky to pull off because of that. Tony could have provided them with prototypes for 1-6 blade options and that would have been pretty cool.

Thought this small bit of history of a collab might be of interest here. I have picked up a handful of Case Bose collabs and really enjoy them. The 2019 Bullnose is my favorite and I carry it every day.

Attending a knife show for the first time ever at the Texas Blade Show in Fort Worth on Friday and Saturday, I stumbled into finding a real Tony Bose version of the Bullnose and bought it last Friday.

After sharing it on a Tony Bose facebook page this morning, a couple of previous owners of it posted that this was one of two actual prototypes Tony made for Case to measure for the 2019 Case Bose Bullnose.

Tony sent two knives to Case as prototypes, one completed and this one that could be taken apart for measurements for specs. The prior owner referred to it as the “gold piece,” as it was the one from which specs were taken. Tony then later finished this knife and donated it for a fundraiser benefit. Note the “XX” stamp on the blade.

I surprised myself in actually buying it and was shocked to learn the history of it. Talk about stumbling into some luck.

Comparing it side by side with my Case Bose collab, Case did a wonderful job with their production of the Bullnose I carry everyday. They are very close to the original.

These two will be with me to my end days.

A special thanks to GusSharp68 for being my sounding board on whether to buy it. 😊👍
