Hey Y'all
X, good to hear about your mom. A bum knee is a bummer.
Finger tips are bleedin' from sharpenin' this mornin' .....I think that could be a song...

Quality emoticon, Kevin. I rate it 11 keen edges out of 10 layers of flesh.

Update that digital picture album page what you use.

I pledge to get more work done in the shop tonight. There isn't enough time in the day...

Im having a hellofa time with this latest batch of damascus. Ground to 1000 grit, soap and water cleaned. Acetoned. Blotted dry with clean towel. Acid bathed. They're coming out with streaks. Im gonna freak soon! lol

Long day. Back home and in the shop tonight.

Bobby, maybe try a different brand towel...? or wash with dish soap , wipe with alcohol and then acetone. air dry? I know Daniel would have some good suggestions. I hope it works out for ya.

Morning fellas!

Bobby - that sounds very frustrating, sorry man. I hope it sorts out.

Still getting used to the cold temps here. But I'm going to force myself to walk around and take pictures during lunch - try to get familiar with the new camera and lens.

Make it a great one!

Morning guys!

At the hospital visiting mother. She took 10 steps this morning and is doing just fine for the most part! So progress is being made.

Bobby, try Kerosene or zippo fluid, it evaporates clean with no residue.

Liam, what new toy did ya get?!

Daniel, you have any interest in some 100+ year old bois d'ark from Colorado? I've got a chunk I'm thinking of chopping up.

X - I got a Fuji X-Pro-1, and the 23mm f1.4. Bit bigger than my old rig, but MUCH faster glass, and still loads smaller than an SLR. And I can still use adapters for all my vintage lenses if I wish.

Now the only question is if I sell the Nex 7, or if I keep it to use with MF glass on a stitching frame for 140mp images...

Good news about your mother. Progress is a good thing.

hey guys!

Bobby - if the Damascus stays streaky after a few tries cleaning it could be decarb. Is it kind of a blotch here and there? It is hard to see but will etch differently. Etching is simple but tricky... Also try going back down to 400-600 grit to see if it makes the dammy pop more, sometimes it will. That's just a tip on the side, lol.

X I hope your Mom is doing well! That Osage sounds killer, save me a piece! I can send you some from TX in a trade. My Dad's friend has a small lumber mill and said it made his blade spark from cutting the tree!

Liamstrain that sounds awesome! Your knife is coming up soon too.

FBC you rule!

Solid day working on the knives today... hope to finally grind some scales tomorrow! :D

Flurries all day today, expecting a little less than an inch overnight tonight. Anyone have any advertising jobs for me in the south?

Hey guys!

Liam, I've been looking at those fujis, pretty awesome rigs. Just don't like the slow sync speed. I'm used to 1/250 on my nikon gear but those are all the way down at 1/80. I know you can push it to 1/125 which is ok, but still slow if using long lenses. Stitching frame sounds like fun! Lots of work in post though. Hope your scratch drive is big enough to handle files that big!

Daniel, I'll save you some for sure. I don't have a lot of it, but enough to get a couple scale sets out of. The color is awesome, very dark orange. Super hard too. It's from a fence post.

Chopping up some carbon fiber sheet today, then headed to the hospital to transfer mom to the convalescent hospital for OT/PT for a few days or a week. Then she can go home and be back up and running. She had her other knee replaced 4 years ago, so this is nothing new to her.

Make it great folks!

I don't use flash with these cameras, so that's a non issue for me (160 I think is the max). This is my fun camera, not what I use with the big strobes.

No issues with the scratch drive, it's used to dealing with high-res drum scans from 4x5 film - over 1.5gb files before I start adding adjustment layers. 0.o

It's pretty at least. If not light.

Make it a great one everyone!

Rolf, you choppin' wood?
Liam & X, I have no clue what you guys just said but those sure are cool lookin' cameras! :p
Wilson, Stay warm.
