Cold steel tri ad lock vs Spyderco compression lock (stonger lock)

Who else does their spine whack test as hard as Demko?

I don't think anybody. I doubt that anybody has the expensive knives too dull the blades and beat the h*ll out of the spines. I'll take Andrew's toughness videos as gospel. He's a stand-up guy and no trickery imo.

The only thing I'd really like to see is on the Cold Steel lateral stress tests would be the cut out portions. I'd like to see if any of the blades snapped, how close to true they came back, if any did or not.

Ya know when they use that big cheater bar to bend their blades. I wouldn't be less inclined to buy the product after seeing it pulled to a 90* lateral bend and break, or not return to true. I really don't know whay they cut their videos like that. :)

I'd be the first to become a reverend in the Church of Demko!

why in french ? :( i don't understand a word he's saying.
the vid kicks a$$ though

Yeah but there will always be those that doubt it.

Well, truth to tell, I was immediately one of those who liked the tri-ad before you even came on the forums. It's really you and your "tests" that I doubt. Anybody can say they did "tests". That's why I keep asking for your vids.

the spartan is a beast... yes. but look at the size of it, compared to a smaller knife there is no contest. i would like to see the outcome of two knives around the same size, say the Para 2 and the Lawman or something of the like

I can understand you being sceptical because I was also surprised about how much it took but Do I need to provide videos for everything that I say? People in the review sections sometimes don't even have pictures of there knives doing the things that they say they do with there knives. I am not going to thrash a second spartan just to show what It could take.

hey singularity would it make u happy if i made a vid of my GI tanto chopping spydercos into little peices?

How much would you bet the spartan would crush most of spyderco's line fixed blades and all in a destruction test.

I hope you're being Zen with your road trip.

And don't you be dissin' my weak ass knives. ;)

PS: I hope Ruby is doing well.

Personally I try my very best to use all locking folders in such a way as to never test their locks. I made do with slip joints for years and years before I got into the pocket clipped knife, most of which have some type of lock system. I never had any problems with my slip joints closing on me while using them. I guess it's all in how you use a knife!

Does anyone have a diagram of the compression lock? I've wanted to know how these function for quite some time.

I'm going to watch that video link on the compression lock but I have to ask - since I don't own either - is the Hogue folder also a compression lock?

Edit: watched compression lock vid and the Hogue is similar only in that there's a stop pin, which btw, a triad uses. A stop pin seems to add strength to all 3 by spreading the force against a back lock, frame or liner lock face and into the the stop pin. Sound right?

No the original is a button lock I think sometimes called a plunge lock. The newer one is a liner lock I think. Both are quite a bit different than the compression lock.

I just got an alert on the Hogue EX-01 thread and it showed the lock in detail. Kinda has more of a similarity to an axis lock than any - but just kind of.

I have an email from Allen about his new EX-02 coming out which if I'm understanding will be a liner lock, as you mentioned:

The EX-02 is a completely different knife compared to the EX-01. It comes as a liner lock, manual or flipper, 2 different blades and it is based off of my Tank model. I do not know the price....... It should be about the same as the EX-01 or a little bit less

Triad lock strength has been proven in torture tests. Fast forward to minute 16:19 in this link and see this guy beat the snot out of a new Recon 1 by batoning it through a log.

How many knives/locks can stand this type of use? The knife survived admirably. Keep in mind that this knife has no steel liners as well.
