Cold steel tri ad lock vs Spyderco compression lock (stonger lock)

Triad lock strength has been proven in torture tests. Fast forward to minute 16:19 in this link and see this guy beat the snot out of a new Recon 1 by batoning it through a log.

How many knives/locks can stand this type of use? The knife survived admirably. Keep in mind that this knife has no steel liners as well.
Yeah and the recon 1 is one of the smaller, weaker coldsteel folders.

Right, but by no means is it weak. I saw a vid of Andrew Demko STANDING on an opened American Lawman supported between two blocks of wood. It flexed for sure but it held its shape and was no worse for wear. Really impressed with the Recon 1. If it was paired up with even 154CM it'd be unbelievable. But then it's cost probably over $100 which for me is a deal breaker in this economy.

Yeah I have seen those videos I think people just don't want to admit how strong these knives are in order to save face with there spyderco and benchmade folders that they paid twice as much for at least.

Did anyone ever think of this: when you put out "proof" videos, as a company, then when some dumbass cuts their fingers off doing the dumb crap they saw, they can sue you?
So, you either put out the vids with all sorts of disclaimers (hoping to avoid gettng sued by the inevitable dumbasses), or you just keep the results of your tests secret.:)
I'd say that Spyderco and Benchmade are going the second route.

stabman, I agree but the vids just mentioned were independent of the Proof series. I for one would love to see knives by other companies tested (even if it's considered gross abuse) to the point of failure if for nothing more than to satisfy my curiosity. Anybody can say "my product is better kungfu".

When people send me thousands of dollars of cash (or knives, weights and video equipment), then I will answer all the unanswered questions.:D
I'll throw em at trees, baton every material around the block, and hang ridiculous amounts of weight off of all of them.
Can it cut pennies? Let's find out!
Can it stab through a cement windowsill? Let's find out!
Which one stabs through wet pig skulls best? Let's find out!
Just send me the money!:)

(Seriously, I'd do it. Not sure what it would prove, but it sure would be fun!)

Yeah I understand exactly what you mean, everyone wants to see what is what.

But the cash to pay for it all never seems to come. ;)

All that stuff that is needed isn't free or even cheap....

Especially if we have to wait for me to earn it.

Yeah doing a lot of testing does really add up and fast depending on the testing that is done it can get expensive in a real hurry.

A lot of time and money out of pocket. ;)

For sure.
I was going to do a hanging weight test with my Griptilian trainer, as it has handy holes in the blade that hooks could go through.
But I don't have enough weight laying around, either here or at my dad's place, and theres no vice at the gym (plus they'd boot me out for being a dangerous idiot, I'll bet:))
And it turns out that those weights are damn expensive.

I know I am going to get some flack for this but honestly I really, really , really doubt that spydercos or benchmades can stand up to the likes of the recon 1 and it's even bigger, stronger siblings in any manner of strength test.

Well, in Ankerson's test, the Griptilian DID hold up pretty darn well.
Some of the tip broke and some wiggliness appeared, but the lock held up completely.:)

I believe Cold Steel distributes their "Proof" videos becasue the knives can do exactly what is depicted. The disclaimer is for idiots who might sue but under the same conditions, they will perform as depicted - they have "Proof" of it. ;)

Why is it the people who have never done any actual personal testing and havent experienced all of the products they bash, squawk the loudest.

Well, I just got back from a Tim Horton's run (yum!).
Along the way, I decided to "test" my Benchmade Griptilian trainer.
Results:
-in the "Hanging Weight Test", the spine of the knife can support the weight at least one stabman (170 pounds) [used to do chin-ups on tree limb]
-in the spine whack "test", it can safely handle at least 20 hard, VERY hard, wood-denting whacks with no noticeable effect on the knife.
(disclaimer: I still consider spine whacks idiotic, but this is a trainer, so I routinely beat the hell out of it)

Conclusion: well, I guess it won't "prove" anything to anyone else, but I'm satisfied.:)

Thats makes no sense. You're welcome to post proof otherwise carry on looking silly.

I'm just saying that you don't know what tests I have done but yet you try to attack my credibility in defense of those knives. Also what proof would you want exactly? Someone just posted a video of a recon 1 batoning wood.. wouldn't someone need to post a video of a benchmade doing the same thing to prove it's comparable?

People don't believe anything unless you have a video my friend.

But a Benchmade WHAT exactly?
AXIS lock? Liner lock? Frame lock?
