Cold Steel vs. CRKT Lawsuit

"Virtual Fixed Blade"

Now is that a "virtual Busse" or a "virtual $1 store pairing knife"?

Marketing will attract the consumers but in the end the consumers will determine the worth with their dollars and future purchases.

It really makes no sense for CS to be doing this. It just makes them look bad.

It makes them look even worse than they already are. Then again, it's publicity. You just have to shake your head in disbelief.

I had a pawn shop bought fixed blade where the blade fell out when whittling a stick.
I had a CKRT folder, and the blade did not fall out when whittling a stick.

So actually, the CRKT folders are better than some fixed blades. :)

Haha were you virtually whittling that stick?

No...but I may have been attempting to be a virtual chainsaw. :D

To beat the suit, wouldn't CRKT just have to find some equally crappy fixed blade knives?
I remember many terrible knives at gun shows that fell apart with great ease. ;)

Heck, Cold Steel has to prove damages, so CRKT can probably beat the suit just by sitting on their thumbs. Unless there's a lot going on that we aren't hearing about I think the proper response from CRKT is to laugh for about 15 minutes and then forward this to their attorney.

That is quite true.

I didn't read through the mega thread, but I'm sure my points echo those of many of you; a sad and pathetic lawsuit. :thumbdn:

Maybe Cold Steel should worry about their own product. My aus 8 recon scout had serious blade rolling after a little whittling and my SRK handle has loosened up.

Damn I need some clients like this...I'd be retired at 45.

In short (VERY SHORT), in my legal opinion, CS's claim has no validity, they totally fail to show any real tangible damages that CRKT can be shown to bear liability for causing them. It would take more than a simple inference to draw a conclusion supported by a preponderance of the evidence (the standard in civil court for most cases like this one) to rule in favor of CS not to mention award them anything in the way of damages (money).

TL/DR version: CS's claim is baseless, it will be dismissed. Just remember, don't mess with Lynn Thompson, he's a sheepdog..and probably still angry that he's had to go through life with a typically female first name.

Maybe he was just born after his time. "Lynn ("lake" in Welsh) was an extremely popular name prior to 1900. SINCE 1900, it kinda struggled along until the 1940s when it had a brief resurgence in popularity, more so with females (peaked in 1956) than males (peaked in 1942), and has been in a popularity tailspin.

I read Lynn's article about his law suit. He said that he "cares about his customer fingers". I'm sure he does.
What actually scares me wayyyyyyyyy more than a Spyderco, ZT or CKRT catastrophic blade failure, is having my finger tips accidently guillotined off by that CRAZY Cold Steel XL detent. Even the 3.5- 4 inch bladed knives are ultra snappy. I understand the reason for detent, but geez! I have also had a few close calls deploying my XL (longer thumb stud travel) blades as well. If you have small/medium hands you have to be real careful. If your thumb slips off the thumb stud or plate, the blade will snap right back on whatever is in the way. I usually use two hands, or shake out the XL s. I close all CS's with both hands.
My ZT, Manix, and CRKT Hissatsu, and M-16 don't have these issues.:)
