CS- love 'em, hate 'em- time to address some issues

Tourist, what is the name of your knife store and where is it located? I always like to drop by knife stores if I am near by.

Seriously, though ... Cold Steel is an interesting company. They do make weapons other companies don't, like the spears and the sticks, and few other companies make cheap-but-effective axes.

Their Carbon V knives are good. Their AUS-8 and 440 aren't the world's worst, but there's so much better out there, why bother?

If you use the Voyagers / Gunsites / Nogales clip points (Vaqueros) for cutting, they are great working knives. You can't throw them and expect them to last. The True Flight Thrower is Carbon V and inexpensive. Go for it. I have no experience with their Bad Axe or swords.

I've beaten on an old Vaquero Grande for years, and it takes everything I throw at it. Of course, it's flat-ground. I tried the same with an X2 Voyager and the blade chipped massively.

Stick around. You can learn a lot here. Before you buy, ask. Check The Good, The Bad, The Ugly forum for feedback on who's good and who's not. Ask about reliable dealers. That's one of the real benefits of Bladeforums.

of course, the downside of it all is ... we'll be tempting the money right out of your wallet! :D

He just took time away to fabricate more lies and B.S. Look at the latest. He 'allegedly' sells knifes to cops, firefighters, and the military. :rolleyes:

I'm betting he can't prove this little venture any more than he could prove that he paid cash for the Harley, but still used a library internet connection.

If he's selling to the "military," it's easy to find out. For example. . . .

1) He has a store front.

EASY TO PROVE !

The only military installation, of any size, in WI is Fort McCoy (located in Sparta). Sparta is approx. 116 miles from Madison (coolio's location) or a 1 hour 49 minute drive.

So, this is a possibility. I don't know who would drive that far to pick up a knife, considering that a consumer can order just about anything via the net and without leaving home. :D


2) He is operating a website.

AGAIN, EASY TO PROVE !


3) He's a DoD "vendor."

PIECE-o-CAKE to prove. Wow, I reside near a "huge" military facility that just happens to be part of the USAF Material Command. :eek: I have several friends that are systems managers and item managers (a supply thing) there and they have access to all of the logistics and supply databases in DoD. :D

All I need is his "Cage Code." :D
 
Still waiting to hear what the extent of LT/CS's involvement in the Strider/Mad Dog fiasco was. One side states LT paid for the investigation, but DngrRuss1 states LT didn't. Anybody have any solid facts?

Good question. Where are the solid facts from those that state that LT paid for the investigation? Again, I am continuously amazed that when any controversey involves LT and CS, many automatically side against LT and assume that he and the company are guilty of some transgression, often without the smallest shred of proof.

As to the facts re. this issue. I will try to get some info direct from the PI if I can. Give me some time- I have a life you know :D - but I will do what I can.

I'm a HUGE fan of of Cold Steel, myself. Their knives come scary sharp and seem to hold their edges quite well. They're tough as hell and very affordable. I love what they're doing and I love their new designs. The free DVD is both a bonus and a great marketing tool. Plus, I nearly pissed myself when they were smashing up the old Caddies with the War-Hammers. They seem to truly love the buisiness and keep surprising us with great products. So... Yup... Think they've got me as a loyal customer.

I guess I'm amazed that you are amazed. It would seem to me that when someone acts like a black sheep in front of the rest of the industry a few too many times in public arenas (throwing temper tantrums and accusations of conspiracy regarding knife of the year for example) that it should be no big suprise that they are treated like one.
