Congratulations, Macchina. That peanut is a new family heirloom.

Since Tsar posted his "stocknut" I thought I'd finally take a picture of another strange peanut variant.
This little peanut is by National Blade N.J. I believe that was one of many names owned by Jim Parker. As you can see, the pen blade is on the wrong end. Should we call it a Pen-Nut ?

Rachel, that's pretty weird, but wonderful, too! Does it have a single spring?

Awesome. Makers in the 70s/80s were kinda going nutty with this pattern, it seems. Parker's reputation may not be sterling in many segments of the business/hobby, but he sure did produce/commission some interesting knives? Is that bone or horn? My guess is the former, but it sure does look pretty unique?

Anybody else got some weird peanut variants to show off? :o

Thanks, and yes, it has a single spring.

It's bone. I got it in the mid or late eighties, and it was a lot lighter and less orange when it was new. Even though I'm somewhat of a traditionalist, it's fun to find these unusual configurations.

Here's another example of Parker creativity that while not a peanut, isn't really anything else that I can define: a Peanut sized Barlow Trapper with half stops. Notice the scrimshaw is on the pile side. I hope the pooh-bah doesn't mind my posting it here:

Here is my daily companion lately.

Man, just realized I haven't posted in this thread in a long time, thanks to all for posting all the great pics and stories. When I first got here I had a Case stag peanut, followed it up with a yeller user, which is in my pocket today. Well, peanut cult fever spread like wild fire and I have since accquired a chestnut bone cv, an olive green bone ss, a brown delrin ss, a rough rider, one old timer and just ordered another chestnut (backup ya know...) and a rough black. Added a couple of small Case coke bottle cousins for good measure too. I NEVER leave the house without a peanut in my pocket. Love 'em.

Enjoying the thread. But need to confess. My name is Guy and I'm a nutaholic. Since my last confession I've bought a couple more. One was a black lava corelon that is just gorgeous. The other is on its way it was an impulsive bid on a mother of pearl nut with the scissor blade and a bail that I thought would surely go another $20 or so higher than my high bid. I'll post pics of both when the latest arrives. I swear I need an intervention.

Yep I trying to darken it up.

I'm still not sure about the steel on my Queen #14; seeing as I don't have any CV Cases at the moment, the only carbon steel peanut I have is my Schrade. I was considering a little forced patina on the Queen but I have seen less than admirable results trying to do so on other D2 blades and this one, being stag and one of my favorites overall, is not one I want to mess with.

Does anyone know what kind of steels Queen has used over the last decade or so on the #14?

Prior to the 2012 buyout:
►Queen was using D2 for more than 10 years on their knives marked "Queen Cutlery".
►Schatt & Morgan line was 420HC with ATS-34 for the "file and Wire" and 1095 for the Schatt and Morgan Heritage Series.
►I think Queen City was all 1095

Been some wildcards since the 2012 buyout, though.

I have just bought , largely due to reading jacknife`s tales, a replacement for the chestnut bone cv peanut i carried for a while, apart from having nigh on perfectly centred blades i was a bit disappointed with the colouring of the scales, my old nut had lovely deep brown scales whereas the new one has some sort of fancy dye job so i am thinking Rit dye. But the thing is i have been carrying a GEC #18 Beagle since my old nut got away and i have to say i think i prefer it to a Case peanut , reason being the peanuts ability to bite you if you were not paying attention, although i believe the pull to be about the same on both knives i think the extra bit of blade in hand during opening that the spearpoint blade on the beagle affords, to be the answer , cos since i have been carrying either of my beagles neither one has nipped me and although i will always have an emotional attachment to the peanut i think he is destined for my Case cigar box. So i am hoping that the Beagle keeps up my membership of the Cult of the Peanut.

Can we see a pic next to the peanut?

(Subtle move to try to get the peanut back in your pocket, but I also want to see them side by side)

(Oh yeah, peanuts bite ;()

Here's the pic I promised of these two beauties together. The black lava is hard to capture in a photo. There's a depth to it with fine red sparks floating in a black sea. And the MOP I am amazed at how stunning it is in person, in the hand.

Two Months! For two solid months, I have (almost) exclusively, carried this lovely gem. She has become entrenched into my EDC system, and I can't find anything that this little 'nut can't do 99 times out of 100.
