It looks like the Camillus R8shell posted above might meet your criteria, but I'm not sure of the steel...

A USA made Schrade 72OT is the only other one that comes to mind with a long pull and straight 1095 (although CV IS 1095 with some extra chromium and vanadium) - no swedge on the old timer, although with a file and some patience you could have one :)

Older 108OTs (peanut-sized stockmen) have a long pull, 1095 and a swedge, but they are not easy to come by in that configuration.

You can't beat the steel or grinds on those USA old timers, but the swinden key construction is kind of a bummer - great candidates for modding, though if you get ones with wobbly blades!

Thanks. Im not much for modding, im usually better at breaking things. but ill try and see if i can find any older camillus or schrades on the big auction site. My main problem with cases cv is just that it seems a bit soft to me. Everytime i use my peanut to eat steak it needs a quick sharpen. Not too big of a deal as sharpening takes maybe a full minute, but ive noticed a shrinking of my blades in the past 6 months or so as a result. If i cant find any ill just stick with my yeller nut. Or maybe pick up one in stag or bone... Well see

Has GEC ever made a peanut ?

Technically no, theyve made a few smaller patterns similar, but no peanuts. Theres the beagle, coyote, pemberton, pocket barlow... Well lots of em. I wish they would though. Heres a coyote i got a couple weeks ago

I think the 22 pattern is probably the closest with the clip+pen combo. I'd love to see a GEC peanut, especially if they offered a single blade version.

Agreed. A true gec peanut would be killer. The 22 and 6 are SO close to peanut... ness. But both are near impossible to find in anything but acrylic, if you can find em at all by now

Maybe someday they'll make a peanut I hope, lol with ( Smooth blue camel bone scales ) . I looked and saw some that were close also but not a dedicated peanut.

That coyote is a handy looking knife fishcakes.

Its great. Im on a cross county trip for 2 months, and the coyote has handled almost all the kitchen duties. I have to confess to carrying it more than my peanut since i got it. If only i could mash the two knives together. The peanut clip with the coyote wharncliffe.... Thatd be pretty dang awesome

Pete it's always fun to see your legendary Peanut as it's aged over the years - thanks for the latest pic!

Thanks, it's funny, normally the past few years I'd pair it up with something if I thought I had hard work to do, but this past year it's mostly been the solo Peanut only

That 'nut is going to be in The Cult's Hall Of fame!!!

Carl I'm honored

Is that a Case pocket worn ? Looks nice.
Tom

Well yes it's a Case, and yes it is pocket worn, but it's not a Case pocket worn, it's pocket worn the old fashioned way, I've used and carried it religiously for just about 5 years.

Pete

Man, that's a pretty Peanut, Pete!!
Is it chestnut jigged bone?

Thanks GT, it is the chestnut bone, in certain light it shows a lot of red, other times it looks like dark brown and reminds me of the old root beer barrel hard candy

Thanks for the confirmation, sir.

Funny thing just happened to me , a small package was just delivered to my door, i took it in and my right hand finger and thumb went to my watch pocket automatically and horror of horrors came out empty!!! On the verge of panicking i realized i had put my trusty legume in my EDC cigar box because i was carrying on my belt my Tony Bose Case collaboration Antique Bone Wharncliffe Trapper, needless to say that was soon put to rights and the "nut" is back where it belongs, how much longer i will carry my new TB CC Trapper remains to be seen, it is certainly the most expensive knife i have ever bought , after much ogling pictures of them i eventually convinced myself that i really needed to have one ( sound familiar ? ) So i did some ruthless pruning of my hoard working on the basis that the knife that came to hand most often when i went to whichever drawer or box stayed and the rest went for sale, leaving me with about twenty or so knives from two Spydies, two SAKs a couple of Opinels i have had for forty or more years and a small group of Trads that i could not let go. What this morning has me thinking is "Do i really need anything more than a peanut " and perhaps an Opinel or Trapper maybe an SAK or small Spydie as back up ?

A VERY familiar story to me; the pruning of the collection to justify additions!:D

No, we don't need anything more than a peanut in day to day life. But as afflicted knife nuts we want more knives than we need. Being a knife nut is like being an alcoholic. A constant battle. But on the other hand, collection knives is safer and better than being a gambling/drug or other addict. Cheaper, and we have usable tools in our pocket as a side benefit. :thumb up:

I can't think of many bad points about a peanut collection!:)
