Very nice Pete! What are you fishing for, or should I say.....what's for dinner?

> do you find your handle getting a little darker over time?

yes what darkens bone is oil, you can "earn" the darkening by letting your skin oils do the job, or for a quicker result,

the secret is that people soak their bone peanuts in mineral oil

for a quick protective patina, stick the blade in a potato overnight, or wipe with hot vinegar.. or wait until you "earn" the patina by cutting apples, limes, tomatoes, steak, mustard sandwiches, and other etchy foods :-)

the secret is that people use leather to strop their blades, which evens out the patina, and polishes the edge and spine to create highlights

> I cannot resist! Pocket worn Harvest Orange Peanut en route

Congrats! imo the Pocket worns make some of the nicest worry bones

Im in recovery, since I never use the pen blade on Case Damascus Stag 'nut, I sprung for an Ebony Pemberton, shown after the oil and vinegar baths, and the deerskin I use to buff..

Pocket worn Harvest Orange Peanut en route... :D

That very model was my first 'nut. I sold it when I decided to carry a CV model instead. But while I love my CV 'nut, I sometimes miss that harvest orange one. It was a dern fine knife, and I never found any fault with Case's stainless steel.

I am deeper in the cult today due to the kindness and generosity of BF member willgoy. When I arrived home today there was a package waiting for me containing a lovely old Queen peanut size/style knife. Too late for decent pictures tonight, but I will post some soon, hopefully tomorrow.

i just picked up one of those pocket worn harvest orange ones, too. It has a very nice warm tone to it. I'd take a pic, but I have a harvest orange cat on my lap at the moment.

and when that happens....whether it be a harvest orange cat, one of our Bassets, or soon to arrive Pembroke Corgi, all is right with the world! Nice!

Cheers!

I am so far gone I first read the above as " soon to arrive Pemberton Corgi."

The world is always a little more right when there's corgi's around! Pearl the cardigan on the left, and Bella the pembroke on the right.

Very nice Carl, looks like a great pair! ......Sarah....I absolutely can relate! Pemberton Corgis abound! Here's a pic of Murray, who we lost 2 months ago. Capone is on the way, not to replace, but instead to grace this house with Corgi presence!

As promised, pictures of the Queen peanut willgoy gave me, alongside my old faithful chestnut bone Case, in the bright morning sun.

I know these two will be fast friends.

A whole family shot.

With the addition of Will's Queen gift, I now have these five peanut style knives.

Lovely shot Jon. Added a bit more character to the 12OT with some apple slicing this morning.
