Cutlery Proposals for the Bladeforums 2015 Knife

Ok, so I'm no Photoshop expert, and I just did this super quick on my iPad. Let's just say my finger tip is not the most precise instrument for the job, but this should at least give us an idea of how it would look with tip bolsters:

Tip bolsters look unusual in a good way. Still feels like a shadow pattern but with a touch of rare design to add interest to the wood scales. Very cool.

And I would be thrilled to have any of his prototypes chosen. They are all winners in my book.

Frank said a mouthful. While I originally was against the shadow concept, I really like the looks of the second version (with the lowered sheepsfoot). That shield is fantastic. The bolstered version looks just a bit too bulky for my tastes.

^ This +1

I prefer the shadow pattern with lowered sheepsfoot. Large bolsters would add more weight which I personally wouldn't want on a single spring knife.

First thanks to everyone involved; nice to see the enthusiasm from CS. Have a couple of their knives and love them.
My choice would be the shadow pattern, what appears to be walnut on the sample is beautiful. D2 steel anyone? I would prefer a shield that could be engraved.
Tom

D2 steel would be awesome. I think no bolsters or else tip bolsters at most.

Bolsters and a shield like this would look nice on it I think

Case is a bigger operation, so to get through their systems is more ponderous.
At some point it might make sense to write them off for this year, but roll their design over to next year's knife.

With the CSC knife, there's two design features that really set it apart from other current production knives:
1) Shadow pattern
2) Low-profile sheepsfoot blade

And both of these help contribute to making an otherwise large knife more pocket friendly (lighter and slimmer). Without these features, the knife becomes much more ordinary and less pocketable. If we go with CSC, it has to be the refined third design. I'd prefer micarta, but if CSC would be willing to do lignum vitae, like a couple have mentioned, that would make it a VERY special knife indeed.

Dittos. The other is too rustic for me. With bolsters I'm in, assuming the prices is reasonable; without bolsters, I'm out.

Without bolsters, I'll buy two. :D

Just joking I'll probably get a couple no matter what profile, materials, or maker.

I'm just bringing this one over from the other th thread that Eric had posted showing a different shield with the sheepsfoot lowered & satin finished blades.

I vote for this as is
Why?
We always want the forum knife to be something that is special and not able to purchase of the shelf
And we have not had a SS forum knife
So time to have SS
I would love to have this in 440C as a good quality steel

This example of Eric's work represents a unique example of a unique pattern of blade config and a shadow pattern
Eric has hit this out of the ball park
My kudos to him

I will be interested if Case or GEC can come anywhere near this

What he said.

Exactly one year ago today, CS had put in two proposals and prices and GEC had also put in two proposals with prices - the single-blade option was chosen soon after.

So, I'd be interested to see if CASE and GEC are actually going to propose anything at all? They certainly aren't stampeding.......

Another reason to vote for this knife is to support Eric as a Master craftsman
We are here in the Trad forum and here is a gentleman actually preserving the tradition by the execution of his skills
