Dark Ops Petition/Contact...

OK Guys, you win. Dark Ops is the Antichrist and must be stopped at all costs. Nations will collapse, dogs will lie with cats, the machines will rise up and society will revert to canibalism and necrophilia if they continue their ad campaign, which will cause the minds of our youth to melt.

Pitchforks and torches, go get'em!!!! Do it for the children!!!!!!

Now everyone line up in a neat orderly fashion and see who gets the last word in.

Sendec I'm all about expression of opinion and freedom of rights, but I think you should look at the facts presented by everyone else. These advertisements are harmful in that they are stereotyping knuts.

Secondly, are you seriously saying that because I mistyped a word because of a simple finger misfire that I'm no better than DO? That wasn't deliberate exploitation of military operatives and their techniques of combat. That was a simple moment of uncoordination. The fact that you feel you have to mask your point with a poetic floura (check the spelling on that if you like...might be wrong) of political and legal jargon proves everyones point that you are failing to be open minded and open your eyes to the blinding truth. DO has OVERSTEPPED it's rights and should definately be advised to tone it down a bit, and the fact that you say we're out to get DO and infringe their rights; if anything we're trying to HELP them by bringing to their intention the sh**storm of unwanted attention and lawsuits they'll have on their hands if the right people want to use DO's advertising to their advantage. Thats it! I'm not even sure if they stole the design but if they did then shame on em and all the more reason to bring these things to their attention.

We really need a smiley/emoticon sitting in a chair eating popcorn! :) This thread has been very entertaining.
The facts alone which are no knives at shows, in production, or sent out for review, along with the expensive ad campaign don't bode well for this company. They will either sink or swim, and either way I think we will see no more of these type of ads.
Just my two cents and YMMV.

Hate to bring this BTTT, but I feel the need to address fedaykincmndr's post.

As for the German Army, I have an immense amount of respect for them and all their members and in no way meant to sound duragatory as I have had the pleasure of meeting some of it's members and veterans.

I have the same amount of respect for the USMC.

I think the only misunderstanding here was that you thought that my posts were directed at you when in fact I was talking to sendec. Let's just forget this mess, alright?

Oh and sendec...I think misspelling "misspell" while criticizing another person misspelling "ignorant" as "ironic" would be the epitome of irony and ignorance IMO...

The thing I like about Bladeforums.com is that there's never a cover charge for the floor show.

:D

You are absolutely right. My bad.

Just please dont deanimate me with your trusty "Black Ops CQB". I am sure that you must be a REAL ninja to have a knife with such a bad-ass name.

There is no need to imply that I would attack you or other such nonsense.

By the way, "deanimate" would be Dork Ops lingo, not Camillus'. No, I'm not a ninja, but the CUDA Black Ops is a sound combat/utility design. It may not have strategically placed blood grooves to control blood spray, though, so it might not be a product you would buy or defend on the internet.

Now go back to counting your DOK stocks.

Too funny, you think I'm a hypocrite because you don't see the difference between marketing and stupidity.

I may be on your ignore list, but I'm sure you still override the "This message is hidden because Quiet Storm is on your ignore list." message to read this post.

By the way, the last person who told me that he put me on ignore was banned - what does that say about you? :D

What it says about you is that you get put on a lot of ignore lists.

Please, make sure you get the last word in, I'm sure that is important to you, but it wont cure your OCD.

Wat mij betreft kan sendec de pleures krijgen, ouwe teringzeikerd dat ie is, krijg er een enorme slappe van, dat gezeikpijp van die vent.

English : ontopic guys cmon.

Any news on the petition?

Mies, I think the real petition is the ongoing discussion about Dark Ops presentation, and I don't think the discussion is to Dark Ops benefit.

This knife community is largely unhappy with how it could make us look and is even more unhappy about how the knives themselves don't seem to meet our standards of integrity and utility.

But there is difference of opinion, and obviously a lot of it, which is why the discussion continues.

English : ontopic guys cmon.
Wow! It takes a lot of words in your language to say a few in mine! :D

But you're right. Disagreeing shouldn't have to mean being disagreeable.

I love good knive and knifemaking, it is a real art form. I must say though that I find Most of the ads for tactical knives quite offensive. Names like the "Baghdad bullet" make me sick. Ads for S&Ws knife the "Urban" in camo no less, what is this knife for?? Who is the target market?? Ads that say
"Pick your playground" "bordertown pakistan, ramparts LA, mountains Afghanistan".
These ads all glorify war and use war to sell what are in fact, killing tools.
I think these ads should be of concern to most people not only those in the knife business.

just my opinion.

You, sir, are a hypocrite - You use violent, lurid imagery for yourself but would deny DOK's right to do the same. You could have photographed your knife lying on a cloth, but instead chose to portray it in a violent slashing maneuver. You are doing exactly the same thing that people claim DOK is.

Good day.

imho this is just plain being silly, grow up.

who cares about spelling/punctuation/etc i wanna read about knives, if i wanna read a thesis paper i will. or write one.

DO stratofighter imho is an exact copy of the ER nemisis, not a close copy, the pics look 100% the same. that aint right. there advertising is stupid/silly/childish too.

lotsa BS about a company that hasnt sold even 1 knife, lol, i know i dont want one.......FWIW

Sirs:

I have missed out of Dark Ops ads, aside from their catalog which I downloaded to see what all the fuss was about. I agree with everyone that these folks seem pretty silly. But if they have created ads which, as one poster mentioned, could be perfect fodder for a liberal congressman (or anyone wanting tighter laws on knives) then that fact concerns me.

Case in point: A friend's teenage son wanted a knife and I talked to her about what kind of knife would be legal and viable for him. I showed her a Benchmade catalog and explained why a high-quality knife is a good investment. She's against weapons in general and I talked to her of how this knife was more of a tool than a weapon, the importance of teaching her son to respect local laws, stuff like that. A Dark Ops ad alone, from the descriptions of it, could have turned her right around from all knives just like that.

They have their freedom of speech and let's hope they will produce some decent knives. But their ads should be mature and respectful. No joke: I hope people do communicate that to Dark Ops.

If I got this right - it's pretty funny. :D

sendec, what it says about me is that a lot of trolls put me on their ingore lists because deep down they know I'm right and can't stand that thought.

No OCD here, but I'd sure as hell love to see this being the last word here. ;)

But I guess you'll feel obliged to post again and I know that you will read this post anyway - so what's the point of putting me on ignore, hypocrite?
