Dave Canterbury posted an apology vid on his channel.

An oppology like this isn't about being sorry as much as it is about doing what ever is needed to repair his lose of income. Only a fool would continue to support someone like this.

I think I'm the only guy on YouTube who had anything critical to say about his apology.... lol. What a jerk I am....

One is curious as to whether that is because comments he doesn't like are deleted or if like a disgraced televangelist normal people tend to shrug it off as “it figures” whereas the flock leaps to their defence and drowns out the signal with noise. ..................................Gotta wonder if in future “doing a Canterbury” will become a stock phrase for Walter Mitty types that slither their way onto TV.

My comment was deleted and not accepted

A majority of people believe in a higher power . Most beliefs teach to forgive if you expect to be forgiven . Doesn't mean to follow blindly. Bible says you will know a tree by it's fruit, If the apology was sincere It will eventually show. If it was to increase income that fruit too will eventually bear out
I don't know many people that are motivated to better themselves that haven't stretched the truth on a resume or interview question. 20 years ago just out of my apprenticeship and having a young family I said yes to "can you do this questions" on stuff I had never done a couple times . Turns out I didn't lie because I figured out how to do it but It was bending the truth How can I be judgemental when I have done similar ??
I don't throw no stones cause I ain't perfect but I am cautious until I'm sure the apology is sincere

I'm sorry, but that perfectly illustrates his sincerity.

Apparently it was too much work for someone to keep deleting the ones which did not portray him/his "apology" in a favorable light.

I wonder when we'll see the apology video for the apology video. He puts the ass in class.

Maybe I'm a freak, but I've never lied on a resume and I don't think it's okay to do so. Anyone who has played it straight, and lost out on a job to some who has "exaggerated" or "embellished" (aka lied about) their experience and/or education, should understand how ignoble this behavior is.

I do think it is hilarious that someone who is military or ex military are supposedly endowed with some special ethics, morals or skills. Chris

I get what you're saying, and the same applies to the religious aspect. To me, the "apology" would have come off as more sincere if he would have kept is simple and not catered to specific audiences. He might make a good politician some day.

Lots of folks here have good hearts, here. Dave has made some decent contributions to the survival community but I have to speak honestly...

A meaningful apology happens when the SHTF, not after every other way to avoid it fails. This isn't an act of honour... it's a last ditch effort. He talks of human nature, religion and how everyone else makes mistakes, more than admitting his own wrongs. I could have forgiven him for any of the things he did(people do make mistakes)... had this apology came out in a timely manner.

I think I have less respect for him now, than before I watched that video.

On a side note... I am impressed with how many of you are willing to forgive and forget... good job. I wish I would have watch the video you saw.:p

It will be interesting to see if my YT comment gets approved... :)

Agreed. Between the timing and nature of the apology the whole thing stinks of boiled cabbage.

I think it says something that this thread is as long as it is.
It does. It says that some of us just wont roll over and accept appalling standards. It would be easy to let the thread just slink away into the night, but some of us demand a higher order of experience and will settle for nothing less. Noblesse oblige

When I saw "Comments are disabled for this video" I presumed it was a specific blocking, but not so

By now I am amused at the transparency

Here's my 2 bits. I always enjoyed the show with Dave and Cody and Dave's You Tube videos as well. Have to say his "apology" was really weak, actually pathetic, and he missed an opportunity to man-up and say he lied. Instead of an apology it was an excuse video that watered the whole thing down and came across like "No harm, no foul." Dave - do it again and do it right and you'll sleep better and change the view folks have of you.

I am still freaked out by his self mutilation with Cody's Mora then ignition via black powder. No matter what the guy says that image won't be leaving my mind soon. Well in any case he said sorry for his lies so it is what it is. Not going to speculate on his sincerity or whatever.

Looks like Dave's survival kit is missing an essential piece of gear: moral compass.

Maybe he lost it in the woods.
