Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

That makes me hungry, Pete. Jack, yours is also very tasteful looking.

I could chime in with some nicely brewed bavarian beverage... ;) :D

Thanks Andi, that sounds nice, I neglected the hop for the grape this evening! :D

Nice pics Jack. How would you compare it to the Aitor Castor?
I've been trying to switch it up between the Lierenaar, Aitor, and Opinel in the kitchen. For fun I put 'em up against my new Mercator k55 and the Sodbuster Jr. Pretty interesting results. The Lierenaar was by far the most slicey (a good test is on raw carrots, the offer quite a bit of resistance...well, not when you're cutting with the Lierenaar), closely follew by the Aitor, Opinel and Mercator. The Sodbuster was a bit disappointing. I blame it on the hollow grind on the Soddie.

Thanks. I'd like to give the Joker a bit longer, but so far it's comparing to the Castor very well  I was just reading your other post about the Sodbuster :)

Thanks for the update.
Well, I don't want to sound negative on the soddie 'cause I do like it a great bit actually. It's a pleasure to use on other tasks, from spreading butter on a sandwich to cutting stuff up in the garden, cutting cardboard,... It's just not the sliciest traditional I've handled for choppin' up veggies. Of course it can do it, but others do it better. Great allrounder thought, and it screams history.

I'll try and write it up at some point. Yes, love the Sodbuster, but a full flat grind is always going to beat a hollow grind in the kitchen, and a lot of other places too! :)

After the day I've had, I needed curry! The Joker helped out ;)

I used the spay on my Western to scrape a little misplaced paint off of some curved molding.

Used my new marlinespike to sneak a bolt through sheet steel that wasn't quite lined up. (West Products USA Sealine)

Thankfully, my Ivory Bone 15 not only helped me out in the kitchen preparing some veg but it gave me a timely reminder:D

Some scraps, peelings were collected up with some newspaper and about to be put in the bin when I was stabbed sharply in the palm  The 15 was warning me not to throw it out with the peelings!! Many a good knife must've been bunged out in error this way:( Nice work Boy:thumbup::thumbup:

The Camillus 48 for boxes and tape, the Western for cutting hoses, and the CRKT for lots of stuff after I found it in a box and put it on my belt.

My Wenger SI chopped up some carrots and cucumber, then quickly switched roles to open a can of tuna, at lunch today.

Not really a workout. Just playin' with my food:
