Educate me on Strider folders

That's fine, and in general I have liked the way you have handled the matter, with a brief statement and a link, to allow others to be informed and make their own decision. There are many reasons to support or not support a maker and it's everyone's right to make that decision.
What I don't like is the derailment of every Strider thread. This is the general knife discussion forum, not the GBU. Those that want to dogpile Strider should take it there IMO. If they have something to say about the knife it belongs here. The disruption of these threads until they are closed reflects poorly on those who are posting . again IMO
And I highly doubt saying this will make one bit of difference

I don't agree. You can't separate the practices of the company or the owner/maker from the knife. It is a kin to counterfeit threads where people just want to discuss the knife and not the counterfeit nature of it. Also similar to the current quartermaster thread. Sorry, same thing. What the company does and how those that run it operate matter. This was said recently when a young knife maker was discovered to be quite bigoted. Said by the same guy who has done the most work to out strider. He also happens to own bladeforums:

To a good amount of us this stuff matters.

That company is quite the opposite & they don't toot their own horn..
LOL, wot?

A company which didnt advertise wouldnt be moving products. They most certainly 'toot their own horn' - in fact, thats exactly how this stolen valor/felon debacle started in the first place.

If Burger hadnt been blaring all that lies/'carp' about his MIL service in order to sell knives and got the train rolling, most likely we wouldnt be having this back and forth.

Spark freaking rocks, thank god a sensible moral individual owns this place. I think I'll upgrade to platinum soon, just to support bladeforums a little more.

We all have our "line in the sand" that decides what we will support, do or buy.
For me, that is racist jerks, such as Dalton...wouldn't even take a free knife made by that guy (and I like free knives).

What if Dalton personally gifted you a ZT?

And there you have it.

Duane sure has some fine taste in proprietary pivot design....

It's the dogpiling a knife discussion thread with attacks on a person(no matter who he is) , not your dislike of Strider or not wanting to support him that I object to. Start a GBU thread and go at it. This would not be allowed by the moderators if it wasn't Strider. For some reason(suppose Spark) it is felt that this is OK.
As I said I didn't expect change-just airing my views on it.

Oh stop. If you think the mods are unfair take it to Tech Support. Or if you don't like Spark...nobody is forcing you to be here.

The morality of the people behind a knife, whether is "the Chinese", or Dalton, or Strider, or Thompson, etc etc matters to some people in their decision about buying a knife.

If it doesn't to you, that's fine. But it matters to others. Sorry it's your brand. That many people disagree with you doesn't make it dogpiling.

Whoops

Whew, that's a tough one.
A knife made by a company I like, but gifted by a racist...
If he paid for it, perhaps it would count as taking money away from a racist, making him less wealthy, which would be a good thing. :D

Excellent rationalization!

Also, let's review that none of us is discussing leaving Burger to die in the gutter for his sins. We're talking about not buying products from a man who runs a company with, a cursory search turned up, an estimated net revenue of 2-2.5 million per year.

Hey and I am all for that. That's the best way. Don't buy his products. But to call the guy a scumbag for something he did over 10 years ago and think there is no possible way he could have changed. Is pretty narrow minded.

How so? He did something scummy. If he's expressed any remorse I certainly haven't seen or heard about it. In my book that pretty much makes him a scumbag. Using the logic that he COULD have changed (not that he has, as NO evidence of that has been shown) to excuse his scummyness? I disagree in the strongest possible terms with that weak sauce.

As a compromise I'll say this, all available evidence point to Mick Burger being a scumbag.

Well, we can't say sharp_edge is lacking info on these knives now or can we?:D

Is your disagreement with CJW's statement at the same degree as your disagreement with Strider?

No reason to get personal with forum members in this thread just because their opinion differ from yours.

On the other hand you cant possibly be referring to anybody in this thread.

I mean, the Burger person has been called a scumbag but nobody implied, that 'there is no possible way he could have changed.'

But pls direct us to where anybody has stated, that its not possible for a human being to change?

No? I thought so.

Weak sauce indeed.

Nice second evasion maneuver.

Think, THEN post.

Im out of this thread.
