Elusive Schrades

Great knife Austin,Tx ,George,Steve,Bill or whoever you are.:) I love the lithe look of our 4" single springs, and that's a beauté.

Ken ,I used to go for those melon knives too, still like 'em ,just can't get everything. Nice knife, but I don't understand why so many meat packers gave away watermelon knives,or how do you test sausage with this knife?:D

Beautiful set treeshaker.

80-85 the lance, while not part of the set, does have an indian theme and thus has been considered as a pert of the set. the Lance was made 2500 for Montgomery wade as employee gifts. I have never meet or heard or anyone with a complete set and the lance, I have a total of 3 fulls set with lances and about 20 loose ones. they all came in boxes like the lance, and all plastic on mine are mint. I literally have collected 45 years and own nearly 10,000 knives, (yes, a sickness) while these are hard to find, the total package is very hard, a 13 year journey. 90% of the one's I see for sale are from my collection that I used to trade with or for in the past. I have repurchased many. as far as a fixed blade the schrade golden spike is full of history. I just hate to see people put down what they do not understand. another member who's name I can't mention found a rare schrade this year that could easily fetch $2500. I have 6 of the 7 i have ever seen, including his, which is a WOW knife. I will share this with you since my wheels are falling off me, my health is bad.. Watch for any scrimschaw by LINDA LAYDEN, period it is worth a mint, and she appears most often on Frost Cutlery Knives, and yes they made unreal high end knives. there excelsior line is second to no one in traditional knives, People reject what they have no clue about. so sad. today it's Taylor not schrade ..

Thanks for the info treeshaker. :)
10,000 knives? WOW! Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead? (or behind as it were) I do have one Golden Spike in my meager collection, and would love to hear any nuggets of knowledge about them that is normally unknown. I think they were made to commemorate the meeting of East and West railroads?
Sorry to hear about your health issues. :(

I got this Schrade Barlow from the Rhett Stidham estate sale a while back. As soon as I got it I sought the experts on the Bernard Levine. It is believed to be pre 40s. It was requested I put a few pics of it here. Placed it along side the TC Barlow for comparison.

Nice Barlow KBA! I think the TC has it's DNA in it. Charlie loves Schrade knives, especially the "elusive" ones.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks Markesharp. Charlie is actually the one who requested I post a few pics here. I think they look great together.

Stunning Barlow KBA, that is simply a beautiful knife, I havent seen those Stampings before on a Shrade?

Two stunning knives KBA - the new and the old or - the old and the new - hard to tell which one is the old, if one did not know. I love to see these collector preserved examples, as well as the slightly or well used ones.:)

Thanks for posting those, KBA!! Brings this old thread right up to date with a real nice, elusive knife!!

No problem Charlie. Thank you all for the compliments. I certainly got lucky in finding both of those beauties.

I love this thread and it's great to see it surface again and again. That being said, I picked up a really neat Schrade Walden the other day that I've not seen often, so I figured what better way to get the Elusive thread kickin' again! Lots of character with this ol' jack, hope ya like her! ;)

Beautiful! The main bolster is called a Washington bolster. The knife has a flat-beveled style that taxes the cutler's skills. Delightful Schrade!

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I love these knives by Mr.H. Williams, Schrades in-house Custom Knife Cutler...........

In this photo it shows the Red Bone Shcrade Walden Mintie I think the era of that knife is around the very early 1960's, I also have a Black Old Timer exactly the same- same year - gold shield - along with a same year Schrade made Buck.

2 x stunning Stag Old Timers

1 stunning Stag Uncle Henry

I love Chicken eye'n, and Coon fingerin' these knives lol
