Elusive Schrades

My friends. Thank you for your kind comments and again to Paul - a Massive thank you Sir. This knife is just amazing- such a MASSIVE shame that they don't exist anymore.

Came across a nice Schrade Walden 804 whittler, with stainless blades. It's got a faint etch showing that reads CRAFTMAN 9488 over PROFESSIONAL CARPENTER on the saber cut clip. Its been used some, but a previous owner left it in great shape with sharp blades, pocket ready. The pinned shield puts it in the back end of the 1950's. I think the coping blade has some left over carpenter's blood on it.

What a great looking whittler!

Nice find, Hal. Given the stains, I wonder if the secondaries are stainless?

The peachseed bone is beautiful on that knife!!

Due to its blade selection its hard to beat that knife. Add to that the beauty of that bone and full blades, and lets not forget that box.....Winning!

The same thought crossed my mind. The "blood" doesn't wipe off. It would not surprise me if they didn't make stainless coping and small clip blades. Stainless blades were not run of the mill during those times.

Due to its blade selection its hard to beat that knife. Add to that the beauty of that bone and full blades, and lets not forget that box.....Winning!

Thanks, and just for the record, that was a stranded "View-Pak" plastic tube and insert from a purchase years ago. Any one got a spare end cap? :p

Not sure how elusive these are, but they eluded me for quite some time!

Nice Barlow/Jack collection, AL!
And that Auto is a homer - beautiful memento of your Grandfather!!
Thanks for showing them!

Every one an elusive gem!! But....that push button really pushes my button!! Thanks for sharing them:D

Great knives. Very nice. I especially like the barlow with the spear and the butter and molasses jack.

Hal, My friend I ALWAYS love it when you post up a knife - because you can always be assured that the knife is going to be a knock-out! And I am not disappointed! Peachseed is just superb, and as others has stated - this example is right up there.
Hal it looks to be a large Whittler , what size is that closed Sir?

Al, again - lovely knives, you arent sure how Elusive those are , my friend they are all Elusive to me I can tell you!! Absolutely stunning line up The beautiful Jig work on the lovely Bone on the Clip-Point at the top of the photo is at it's best - wonderful knives Al, I cannot imagine what it would be like to have a knife of a Grandfather - especially a knife that is from one of the best Companies to have existed-and has their best example of their unique Peach-seed!! Wow.

I have never known a nice Grandad - I always longed for one, and on top of that to have a knife of his!!! I know it sounds silly, but to me that would be most possibly the largest Treasure a man could own - well it would be for me...so I tip my hat to you Sir-thats a wonderful knife in so many ways!

I have said it before, and I will say it again- I Love this Thread, - the whole thing around these knives is simply amazing - one can understand why they are some of THE most collectable knives out there! - I just wish I had more access to the countries that have such depth and History from where great knives like these came from.

I posted this photo up in our good mates thread Gevonoviche's Thread, Its a beautiful Peach Seed that Mr Paul Hilborn gifted me - I carry it a lot! Peach-seed...isnt it amazing how you can own a knife for so long and yet never tire from looking at it!
I know the Case Belt Sheath is a clash of codes - but it works so well - that Sheath was gifted to me from good Ol' Primble!!

Gevonovich, Hal, Jamie and Duncan, thanks! Duncan, I was fortunate enough to know him. He taught me to hunt and fish and much more. His old knives/guns are indeed treasures to me.

Some wonderful knives (and photos) being posted here. Thanks to all for posting them. I don't normally care for Schrades, but some of these are ok. :D:D:D
