Emerson Calls Bullsh*t

I had a SpecwarA in 2004 and yes you could bend the liner with just 2 fingers. My current models of the Mini CQC8 and A100 you can not.

I call BS. I still own a SpecWar A ('03) and I do not have this same problem. Of course, mine may be the exception but I doubt it.

Well, I read Emerson's post, and here are my experiences. The only two Emerson knives I own are both Ravens. The first one I got has been sent for repairs twice. Once because a screw fell out of the clip and another screw hole got stripped. I'm not sure if the hole was stripped already, or if it was my doing, but I do remember that the screw that stripped out did not seem to be perpendicular to the handles from the moment I opened the box. In other words, unlike the other two screws in the clip, that screw head was crooked. I never took it apart to inspect the threads, but in my experience working on cars, as well as some assembly work I've done in a machine shop, if a screw head is crooked, it's probably cross threaded and the threads are all chewed up. I sent this knife in for repair, and promptly got it back in tip top shape!

The second trip for this knife is what I consider a warranty service. The liner lock face on this knife wore down to where the blade would wobble when "locked" open. Once I sent this knife in again, I got it back with what looks like a new liner, a nice sharp edge, and it looks like the black oxide got reapplied to all of the black hardware.

Overall, while that one knife has had a couple issues, the other Raven that I have hasn't had any, but it's also an older one that appears to have thicker liners. The service from Emerson has been outstanding, though. They are very accommodating and easy to work with. If I could get more Emerson Knives, I would, but finances don't allow for that right now.

Are you gonna bring this up in every post you make? Sheesh! Let it go for a while.......

You obviously have not read the years of posts that I have made here PRAISING Emerson's knives. Please do some research before you post comments that are inaccurate.

Pshh, QC problems? Reliability questions? Gimme a break.
Suffice it to say... I just got back from a 4-day work trip out of town, to do a major install on one of our tugs... in open water... in the rain... What did I bring with me? 40 lbs. of tools, a couple extra pairs of undies, and my CQC7. Nuff said.

My Mini-Commander. I'm very pleased with this everyday carry knife : good compact design, sharp blade, robust, good mechanism.

My only complaint is the finish versus price.
Same finish? So less priced.
Same price? So better finish.
Cannot have both.

Dear God, can a mod just kill this thread?
It's gone from insulting, to discussion, to outright stupid now.:thumbdn:
Emerson isn't even bothering with the thread anymore, and as a non-paying member, he cannot close it anyway.
Or should we just thave 10 more pages of "neener neener" and other schoolyard lameness?

Just got my first Emerson today from a brother on these forums. It's used and the fit and finish look good. I'm gonna use it for a while before passing any judgement but from my initial looks it's incredible. Time will tell.

Some of them ARE quite nice.
I just remembered a Bullnose Karambit I'd bought before (still available at General Gun where I traded it in if anyone wants it).
The lock engaged perfectly, the blade was perfectly centered, and, for some odd reason, the finish was proper on it as well.
Didn't like it for off-side carry, as it stabbed my hand once when I reached in (finger hit the wave). But that wasn't the knife's fault.
Since I remembered this folder, I have to adjust the good/bad ratio a bit. It's now 2/5 of them which had issues, not 50%. My bad.:)

ironic, in that you are as guilty of what you claim as anyone else in this thread.

Guilty of responding, but not of insulting anyone.
I don't call anyone a liar who says their knives were good; they're very likely telling the truth.
Same cannot be said the other way though.:(

well, the bolded portion is easily seen as an insult, even with the smiley.

regardless, your posts contribute to the animosity.

if you feel the thread has crossed some line, then walk away, stop reading further, and leave it alone. ignore the temptation to come back.

Well, I'll call BS on what you just wrote.
Ernie already stated that finish is not a concern for him. Those are his own words.
My posts don't contribute to animosity. Any animosity you see is being brought to the table by yourself.
Stop projecting.
I also just realized that I've spent $1470 on Emerson knives along the way.

Nice way to end a thread. Discuss each other instead of the topic. Should I close it because people trash it so I will close it?

Hit me, hit me, said the masochist.
No, I won't, said the sadist.

really? and you say i'm projecting?

at what point in this thread was i arguing with anyone?

ive brought nothing to the table except my experiences with the company, the owner, and the products, and pointed out an inconsistency in your posting.
